He's comfortable in the cabin, you're comfortable in the driver's seat.

Of the many titles you've held in life, you never thought one would be "Baby Sherpa." You love it though, as you haul your munchkin through nature. The Deuter Kid Comfort II Carrier gets both of you out there and in comfort. This durable carrier ensures proper weight distribution, adjustability, support, and moisture transfer.

The Varifit adjustment system allows you to customize your fit by making individual height adjustments, which is good for both parents. Aircontact system uses an anatomically shaped X-frame for support. The padded hip-belt and aluminum frame provide support and proper weight distribution. Two handles aid in putting the pack on or hauling it in and out of your car. In case you need to set the carrier down (with or without your kid in it), the fold-out aluminum stand is directly attached to the frame to support the carrier on level surfaces. A large lower pouch and small mesh side pocket are ideal for diapers, snacks, and bottle. Make sure you stay hydrated when you are porting your precious kid by utilizing the hydration compartment.

The Kid Comfort II has a 5-point harness secures child with cushioned straps and easy-to-use buckle that makes getting the little one in and out easy. The height-adjustable seat permits use with babies and toddlers (babies should be able to hold up head before riding in carrier). You can vary the distance from the frame whether your kid is upright or sleeping with the adjustable shoulder/head pads. The head pad lets your kid sleep soundly and even catches stray drool―there's even a detachable and washable dribble pillow just for that.

Perfect and comfy ride for the little on

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

My little one loves being in his carrier. The seat is comfy and he's taken plenty of naps on the pillow in front. The five point harness is very securing. The description was a little vague about the rain cover/shade roof--it does NOT come with this feature. However, it was inexpensive to purchase. Backcountry overnighted it due to the mix up. (They are the best!) As a 22 lb, 32 inch one year old, his weight is pretty well distributed. On hot days it's nice that he's not snug, right up against me.

Chose the Osprey Poco AG instead

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this pack based off of the excellent reviews. When I received it, I wanted so badly to love it that I almost convinced myself....until I had an opportunity to try on the Osprey Poco AG. After trying on the Osprey and looking at it’s features, I immediately knew that I should’ve gone with the Osprey. The Deuter is a great pack, as shown by all the great reviews, but the Osprey won out for me. Below are the reasons why:

    1) The fit of the Osprey was much better. I’m a thick guy, and found that the lower end of the shoulder straps of the Deuter dug into my sides which wasn’t comfortable at all. I also really really like the air vent on the back of the Osprey. The Deuter’s bulky padding didn’t add any extra comfort and would’ve been miserably hot once the heat of summer sets in.

    2) My kid loves the Osprey over the Deuter. I like how the Osprey provides a rigid capsule that he sits in without being sandwiched in by all the straps and padding. The shoulder straps on the Deuter were difficult to buckle and really pissed my little dude off when I had to wrestle him around to get it buckled. The Osprey’s shoulder straps and buckle are WAY more convenient and easy to buckle.

    3) Sunshades. Had to purchase separately for the Deuter, and it sucked. Unless the sun was directly behind us or above us, it didn’t do much for him...plus, it didn’t keep it’s shape very well and looked stupid when it was on. The Osprey is built in and provides excellent shade for my little dude. It keeps it’s shape and looks much better.

I was very lucky that Backcountry.com allowed me to exchange this product even though I was just outside of the return window. THANK YOU!!

The Deuter is a good pack, but I found the Osprey superior in every way.

    Great Kid-Hauler!

Got this as a gift for a good friend but she loves it! She lives in the Tahoe area and is always out enjoying what the area. With two dogs having this pack makes it super easy to pack up the babe and be hands free while out walking around the lake or taking a trail. The pack is super comfortable and stable while the shade is perfect for when the sun comes out. There is just enough storage and it fits her and her hubby!

      Ideal for pretty much everything!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

We have been using this pack since our son was 7 months old and have found it invaluable. He is now almost 2 and almost 30 pounds, so carrying him is a workout...but the pack makes it so comfortable, I hardly notice. He loves the view, the shade and being closer to me than in our stroller or bike trailer. This pack is awesome for hiking and it's held up to hundreds of hours of use. We constantly get compliments on it and have found it's also great for errands and shopping, the farmer's market, the zoo and even the airport! I really couldn't recommend this more highly to any parent.

      Ideal for pretty much everything!

      Happy Baby, Happy Parents

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I bought this as a gift and here is the feedback i've received- The suspension for both baby and parent is nice and doesn't cause pain in the shoulders compared to other carriers. The storage compartments are just the right size, not too big and helps keep the weight of the back down.

      Keeps You Outdoors

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great pack to continue with your outdoor hikes, even when junior comes along. That's why I purchased this--and the features and quality too. I especially like the adjustability and the extra carry compartment for the little very necessary extra items that you need. Great pack.

      Ready for Swiss Alps Hiking.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Bought this as a bday gift for my sister and this is what she reported: "This backpack is awesome. It fully supports the weight of our 27lb baby and evenly distributes on your back/hips. It also works beautifully for both my 5'8" frame and my husband's 6'3" frame. We looked at many other carriers but this one seemed to have it all...comfort for both parent and baby! We can't wait to use it for our European hiking trip later this year!" -Sister ...now if she'll only bring me on that euro vacay with them!

      Excellent for toddlers.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this pack so that i could take my 2 year old daughter hiking with me. We scout for deer sign and put up trail cameras together. The pack holds all of my trail camera needs and snacks and other essentials for my 2 year old. We also use the pack with a camel pack bladder. This pack is heavy when loaded with a 2 year old and supplies. I use it in 80 degree heat and humidity and it keeps my child very safe. Unfortunately I have tripper and fallen to the ground. The pack kept my child safe and we both thankfully came away with injury. I am very pleased with a pack that stand up to multi-floor rose and harsh conditions. I would recommend this pack for shorter hikes if loaded to the brim. Very durable, rugged, and safe.

Does this pack have an overhead sun shade?

      Best Thing ever

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is amazing. Very well made. Extra storage to carry things along with a child. Makes hiking with tiny kids so much easier. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to get outside and hike with young kids.

      Unanswered Question

What are the dimensions of this when shipped? What is the smallest dimension I can get this if I want to fit this into my luggage for travel? Thanks!

This pack is great! We have a 2yo and 9mo. They both fit in it really well. It feels super comfortable and makes hiking with kids a lot easier. The kids seem to find it comfortable too, no whining. Absolutely a must-have!

        Great for Carrying Babies

Fits comfortably and holds a baby well.

Super comfortable pack for moms and dads

          • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

We gave this as a gift to one of our co-workers, knowing that her husband is the super-athlete between the two of them and might use it more. As it turns out, even though he's 6ft and she's not, the pack fits both of them well and is extremely comfortable. The Comfort II is a good size. We'd ordered the Comfort III for them initially, but given the longer treks Dad would be making, we opted for the smaller, more versatile Comfort II, which still has plenty of room.

          Must Have!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for my 20 lb daughter and absolutely love it. I wear it when walking the dogs, going through the airport or hiking around on vacation. She loves it! Being up high gives her new sights to see and she can spend hours in it. She even fell asleep in it once while we were at the beach. I am 5'9 and my wife is 5'2 and we're able to easily adjust it for either one of us. Plus, it gives us hand free use rather than having to push a stroller. This is a must for every parent!

          Must Have!

I think will be good but child too young

Overall we like the product and its high quality and comfortable to wear. We have a 7 month old who is 1lb over the weight minimum. He's a bit small for it to be honest so ends up slumped to one side. I think it will be great in a few months when he grows a bit

            Perfect size

            • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got this as a gift for a family - husband is super tall and really active, but wife is not near as tall. This pack works for both of them! Originally ordered them the larger Comfort III, but once that arrived, I realized the Comfort II makes more sense. Dad wants to be able to really move quickly still when hiking, etc. Comfort III looked great, but Comfort II looked more versatile in terms of fitting different body types and allowing for more, different types of adventures. The blue color is really attractive, no too boyish.

            Love it!

            • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This was a gift for some family friends from England. Here is what they had to say after using it a few times."We absolutely love our new Deuter child carrier. Out son is almost 2, and the Kid Comfort II Carrier is comfortable for both him and his dad, who is doing the carrying. The design keeps surprising us with thoughtful touches- the storage space means we can pack all the toddler essentials without having to take a separate bag and it's really easy to get our son in and out with the side buckle. This carrier gives a whole new shape to getting out and about with our son and we're excited to have him on the trail with us."

            Love it!

            Highly recommended

We love this Deuter carrier for our hikes. It fits me 5'6 and my husband 6'1 very well. It's super easy and quick to adjust to switch during a hike. The one year old seems very comfortable during the ride. He does fall to the side while sleeping and doesn't stay on the cushion in front of him. We use a folded receiving blanket to prob him up. And have him more comfortable. We also use a receiving blanket over the sunshade to cover the sides when the sun is low.
The only downside is that it doesn't fit our 3 liter hydration bladder very well. You need force to get it in and the zipper doesn't close anymore. Our friends have the same carrier and use a 2 liter bladder that does work.
There storage that is on there is perfect. You don't want it to be any bigger. Because if you fill that up it will be to have.

Amazing backhome for our 1 y.o. baby

              • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Our daughter is happy to discover with us the new places.
She feels comfortable on farther's back looking around. When she is tired she falls asleep. And wakes up smiling )))
Farther is also comfortable - the weights are distributed the way he does not feel it at all.
              Great thing - highly recommened!
