Great all around crag pack

Comfortable backpack. Plenty big to hold a Yosemite sized trad rack.

Only gripe is I wish there were some straps on the outside/side to cinch down a rope --- I never like stuffing a rope into my pack.

    Great buy!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this pack at the recommendation of a friend and am so glad I did! It replaced my old Mammut climbing pack and so far (about a month of use) it's held up great and served me perfectly.
To me, this is the perfect cross-over haul/backpack style pack I've found. I hated carrying the cylinder haul bags into the dessert because how sticky and gross they made my back, and how uncomfortable they are. This bag carries all my gear, keeps it much more organized, and has a super comfy carrying system. It'll stay with me for a long time!

Simply put, I love this bag. I've put about 60 days of cragging and steep approaches on it and its held up very well. The heavy duty flap that covers the main body of the pack has done an awesome job at eliminating hang-ups on shrubs and keeping the rope protected. The thick shoulder straps are great and comfortable and the access panel behind them is awesome! Everyone's seen this approach used in ski packs, but finally a hauler with easy access. You can cram everything you need into the top loader and still access a first aid kit or rain layer without dumping out the whole thing. The hip belt is supportive and actually comfortable! Unlike the Metolius Half-Dome and BD Creek, this hip belt consists of a higher rise along the outside of the hips and has a narrow, lower-profile clip that doesn't bite into your abdomen on super steep scrambles/approaches. (It uses a 1" clip as opposed to the commonly used 3") A single internal zipper pocket has a key clip and small mesh pocket to keep valuables safe. It's a great pack at a good price and certainly one of the more durable AND comfortable haul-style bags I've used.

"I'll carry the rack if I can use your pack!"
