Demon United Mini Wax Iron 110

Well, at least Dad won't have to wear a raincoat today.

Your mom is pissed. She just doesn't understand the importance of having a fresh coat of wax on your board before you hit the slopes. Either way, she just waterproofed your dad's favorite dress shirt because you used her iron to wax your board. This wouldn't be a problem if you had the Mini Wax Iron from Demon Snow. Adjustable heat settings let you adjust to different wax temperatures and wax at the pace that you want to get maximum base penetration without char-broiling your p-tex.

Demon United

Good price. Gets the job done. Small and easy to transport.

    Works fine

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Maintained consistent temp as measured by a laser meter - not sure if the temp exactly matched the setting, but was close enough. The dial is a bit difficult to access for adjustment.

    Poor Quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The base of the iron is not smooth at all, this makes it difficult to have a nice layer of wax under the iron at all times while waxing a board. I would'nt recommend buying it for the cheap price. I would however spend the extra and buy the toko t8. i just bought it and i could not be happier. heres the link http://www.backcountry.com/toko-t8-wax-iron-800w?rr=t. but head over to amazon for a cheaper price.

    Pretty Easy to Use

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This iron heats up incredibly fast! It heats up fast and is easy to use to spread the wax onto you skis. It is nice and small for easy storage as well.

The only drawback is that the dial is awkwardly placed right under the handle you hold. It takes extra effort to change the temperature but for the price it's a great iron.

    Hot Wax!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing works as advertised. Heats up quick, nicer than my previous di iron. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is because the temperature control knob is in a hard to reach spot and it is hard to adjust. Other than that this thing will definitely melt your wax.

What temperature would you recommend that...

What temperature would you recommend that i set the iron to for all temp wax? hot wax? cold wax?

    Hey Tim,

I typically melt my all temp wax at 135 C, my warm waxes at about 130 C and for a colder wax I go to around 140 C. The best thing to do is heat the iron and drip some wax to see how much smoke is being created. If there is lots of smoke it is too hot, where as if there is no smoke and the wax is slow to melt the iron is not warm enough.

Thanks for answering my question. I appreciate it

    great tuning Iron

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had this thing for the last couple of seasons. what I like best about it is since you can adjust the temp and its so small I use it to preheat bases before I drip P-TEX or do a base weld. for this purpose this Iron is awesome!

for me its hard to wax with because the handle is so small and my hands are so big that I end up only holding it between my thumb and first two fingers and I find that to be a bit annoying. But if you have normal human sized hands this should not be a problem for you.

    It's all you need.

I have been using this iron for over 3 seasons now, and since I am pretty particular about waxing my skis, that says a lot. It's small, gets hot FAST, and has obviously lasted through tons of waxes. My only issue is, and it was mentioned in another review, the temperature dial is under the handle, and just seems like an inconvenient place for it. But for $30, you really can not go wrong.

Hello, Is this iron for 220 V?

    Hello,

Is this iron for 220 V?

This iron operates on 110V AC power so you would need a 220V adapter for overseas use.

You should look at other options. this is just a regular iron, not a wax iron and is not very good. the holes in the bottom get wax in them causing the iron to smoke and burn. Check out SWIX and Toko for the real deal. BC.com has some great kits that include wax, iron and a case that are way better.

they are also available in EURO and AUS/NZ plug types..also the holes on the bottom of the iron are plugged ion the 2103-2014 models...

In the back, at the bottom, there is a switch between 120v and 240v. Although the plug itself is 120v only. It is quite odd that the product info doesn't mention this little option.

This is a seriously mediocre iron.

Among other issues, it only goes up to 200 degrees. Many (most?) waxes seem to recommend 240 degrees.

Great iron, compact, flat surface. Only complaint is how difficult it is to twist the temperature dial the way it is positioned under the handle, otherwise, great product. Still doesn't beat the $0.99 iron I got from Good Will, RIP Bertha.

      Hot and fast

This thing heats up in super fast! There are indents in the iron but they are not holes so it exactly what anyone wants. Super small and easy to pack for those weekend trips. so stoked on this thing

        Works great

Yes, there are holes near the tip of the iron.

        Great iron

        Awesome Iron

I've waxed plenty of boards with this iron and it works great, heats up fast and it is definitely something to buy if you board a lot!
