Quality that spans eras.
The Lewis and Clark expedition took about two years to travel to the mouth of the Columbia River, an area near what would later become known as Stumptown. It's that spirit of exploration that Danner called upon when crafting its Stumptown line of boots, especially the classic Men's Mountain Trail Boot. Luckily, you don't have to spend two years crossing a continent to get your hands on these boots, which are constructed from quality leather uppers, smooth leather linings, and a cushioned leather footbed. Famous explorer or not, you'll appreciate the all-weather traction you get from the Vibram Gumlite rubber soles. Not to mention all the time saved from the quick-lace speed hooks. That alone probably would have shortened the expedition by a month.

- Q & A
Bought as gift but they rock.
I bought these for my brother in law but they are so sweet. Super super well made. And cool looking as well. He says they fit awesome and true to size. Very comfortable and the break in isn't bad at all.
If you want people to comment...
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
These boots are an extremely effective method. Pretty much everybody feels obligated to tell me how cool my boots are. Bonus attributes include extremely comfortable feet, rock solid construction (that is done in the USA!), great support and total waterproofness.
Can't wear outside of the house
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: 10 and 9.5
...because they look so damn good and I have to break too many hearts. Since I bought these it's like the streets are paved in phone numbers.
These Danner's are awesome and exactly the combination of function/fashion that I needed and had a hard time finding. They feel totally solid and seem very well made. The proportions are great.
The fit was somewhat of a challenge. It's pretty important that a decently thick set of socks is worn with these. It makes for a better ride. As for size, I wear an 11 in most shoes; maybe a 10.5. I had heard that these run large so I ordered a size 10 first so see how they fit. Too big! I was swimming in them! Returned them to get a 9.5 and they fit like Ace Ventura parks a car.
Laces. Let's talk for a minute about laces. Guys. The green, rope-like laced? Guys. They're ok. They don't look right proportionally. I think Danner hit the nail on the head with their fat, red laces on the Cascades. I did the only thing that made sense. I ordered the red laces for six clams and it all came together. I have a pic in here somewhere showing just that.
If I had to describe how I feel about them in one word, I guess it would be ILOVETHEM
