DannerPortland Select Light Boot - Women's

A tried and true classic.

With a long history of making burly, American-made boots, Danner has become synonymous with quality, and the Women's Stumptown Light Boots are no exception to this tradition. Their full-grain leather upper with 1000-denier nylon side panels is tough enough to handle rugged trails in the Pacific Northwest, but still looks great when you're hoofing it downtown for a pint of your favorite IPA. Danner's Dri-Lex lining keeps your feet dry and comfortable when the temperatures climb, while the Airthotic footbed offers a surprising amount of comfort for a boot with this rugged of a build. A fiberglass shank give the boots a rigid and supportive feel in steep terrain, while the Vibram sole delivers exceptional durability.

Savvy and Stylish

I am so happy with my purchase decision on these boots. I’ve put off purchasing a pair of hiking boots for years because most of them are pretty ugly. I get so many compliments on how these boots look! They go great with jeans of course, but I’ve also worn them with shorts and even skirts. The leather is high quality and breaks into a really handsome and rugged, distressed look. The nylon sides are durable and water resistant. I’ve worn them with wool socks in the snow and have been plenty warm. I’ve worn them in warmer weather and they were fine. I’ve read reviews that say they’re heavy, and this is true, but I don’t find the weight to be uncomfortable or restrictive. They need a little breaking in (as with any shoe or boot with this type of heavy construction), but once they’re broken in, they’re comfortable and supportive. To keep from getting blisters, I bought a roll of adhesive-backed moleskin to stick to my feet (you put it on you, not on the shoe), but I actually only needed the moleskin once. These are a favorite! I’ll even wear them when I’m not hiking!

Great boot on and off the trail

Honestly, I bought these as an around town boot, thinking they were too fashionable for the trail. But I'm really surprised at how much I love them for hiking as well! Normally I like a lighter boot for hiking (don't let the word 'light' in the name of this boot fool you... these things are solid!) but the fit and support of these boots is amazing. I have trouble finding boots that work on my narrow-ish, long feet with high instep, but these are perfect. I normally take a 10 or 10.5 in shoes, but had to size down to a 9.5 in these and still have more than enough room for the toes. I'm now considering getting a second pair to wear around town, and use these boots for the trail!

Expectedly, this boot takes a little while to break in, but once you do, they're comfortable and durable on and off the trail. They're fairly heavy so if you're looking for something lightweight, this is not a good option. This boot is stylish enough to wear around town, too which is a nice option for a lot of people. I get a ton of compliments from both men and women who appreciate the Danner name and reputation!
