DannerMountain 600 Hiking Boot - Women's

Forge a new path.

Built for the wet weather and rugged terrain of the Pacific Northwest, the Danner Women's Mountain 600 Hiking Boot offers uncompromising grip on wet and dry surfaces and superior cushioning—without the weight. The waterproof suede upper and Danner Dry liner keep the elements at bay, while providing moisture-wicking, breathable comfort.

Its midsole construction ensures the right combination of support, rebound, cushioning, and stability for comfort and confidence when you're out on the trail. Danner also wanted to make sure the Mountain 600 was versatile enough for everyday wear, so they gave it a low-profile DPDX last to make it equally at home urban exploring as it is in the wilderness.

Ran way narrow for me

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I don’t have wide feet but these boots didn’t have nearly enough room when I had all my weight on the balls of my feet. Comfortable and lightweight otherwise. I wish they fit!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased these for a few reasons: 1) the tred and grip on these is made by Continental, so you know they're going to grip any surface you put them on. 2) Danner's brand of being durable, supportive, and delivers on quality. 3) they are waterproof.

So far I haven't been disappointed. They do require that you lace them just so, otherwise there can be some pinching or rubbing. But take the time to lace them properly and with the right amount of pressure and you'll never want to take them off. They have decent ankle support, more than I expected them to have. The classic look is also a selling point for me. I love the classic hiking boot look.

I sized UP to a 7.0 when I almost always wear a 6.5 - I always recommend sizing a half size up in hiking boots. They fit snugger and you have thicker wool socks on (or should have at least).

Too soft!!!

Sent them back...probably more of an urban walking shoe and not appropriate for hiking or support. I was surprised at the lack of quality in a Danner

    Supreme hiking boots!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These hiking boots are absolutely amazing! I went on one short hike with them, then did a weekend backpacking trip through Southern Utah and they didn't need any breaking in. Super comfortable, sturdy, durable, and provide excellent support and stability. Would highly recommend to anyone!

    She loves these boots

Christmas present for my wife. The first time she wore them she hiked 10 miles - no blisters and comfortable the whole time! She loves the way they fit and look. Highly recommend.

    Great Boots

These boots were worth me sending them back and forth three times for different sizes/colors. I read that they ran big, so I sized down. Wore them on a hiking trip and they gave me blisters on my pinky toes and had some toe jamming going on in the toe box. Of course, Backcountry is always so nice about returning/exchanging items so I ended up just getting my regular size, 7.5. If you have wider feet like me, it's probably best to stick to your true size otherwise they will fit snug. Two hiking trips in and we're good to go. I get lots of compliments on them and I can wear them while walking the dogs or going to the park.

      Best boot ever!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I’d been eyeing these boots for over a year and when I finally saw them on sale I went for it. 100% satisfied with the appearance, fit, quality, comfort, and versatility. I would pay full price for these now that I’ve owned a pair. Took little to no breaking in. They look cute paired with skinny jeans and a flannel running errands, or with hiking pants getting after it in the backcountry. I usually wear a 7, sometimes 6.5, went with a 7 on these and they fit great.

      Right out of the box

I am notoriously hard on my equipment. I left my last boots in Cuzco, Peru a few months ago, after a 100mi+ hike killed 'em dead for the last time, and I was a bit devastated by it - you get a personal connection with the gear you sweat and bleed your adventures into, you know? It took a long time to work myself into committing to new boots, but since I live in the PNW, I needed some good ones to be my new side kicks (zing!).

After much research and trying boots on across the spectrum of what's out there (high ankle, low ankle, weight variables, fit, waterproof ratings, oh my!), I tried on these boots and was absolutely floored. The comfort and stability of these, right out of the box, was incredible!

Our first adventure was tredging waist-deep through a gorge for a day. They dried out and sprung right back. They were lightweight and protected my feet against the river rocks and boulders.

Our next adventure was camping amongst the wildflowers and glaciers in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. After many miles of hiking, I had a couple of sore spots on my baby toes and the inside of the widest part of my foot. I've never had boots that didn't do this while I'm wearing them in, and have found these to so far be the least intense for a wearing-in process for long-term boots.

It's safe to say that there are an incredible amount of adventures ahead with these boots, and I am already in love!

**P.S. the red laces are WONDERFUL!!

Seriously. The BEST. It's like walking on air. Like pillowy cushions for your feet. These are the best hiking boots I've ever owned.

I couldn't have asked for a better pair of hiking boots. They are pretty lightweight and super comfortable.

        Unbelievably comfortable

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: Runs large

These fit my narrow, "low-volume" feet perfectly. I wear a size 10 running shoe, 9.5 in most boots, and 8.5 in sandals. Got the Danner 600 in size 9 and couldn't ask for a better, more comfortable fit. I've put 15 happy day hike miles on them so far and can't wait to take them backpacking!

        Super Comfortable

I am very pleased with how comfortable these boot are. I went on a pretty extensive hike my first time wearing them! No blisters and my feet didn't hurt!! So the breaking them in is awesome!! I ordered my true size and they fit great!

Between sizes? Hi! I'm between 7.5 and 8 in everyday shoes, I've seen "size down" reviews, thoughts?

        Your go to hiking boot

Not only are these boots very high quality and a solid hiking boot they are also stylish! You're able to wear these out casually, or even for a more laid back camping trip and still look really cute. I can't wait to take them out this summer for some good backpacking trips!

          Danner Mountain 600

Love these boots - they are sooooo comfortable right out of the box. The Danner Dry keeps your feet totally dry, just like gore-tex, and they are stylish enough for me to wear casually as well.

I would do a serious hike in these boots, but also wear them around town. Best boots!

During our snow day today I wore my new Danner boots for several hours, chasing the kids around in the snow. It felt like my feet were wrapped in velvet! These boots are extremely comfortable! The tred did an awesome job on the slippery muddy terrain as well. Highly recommend!

I bought these for a hiking trip to New Zealand -- I wanted light yet waterproof, sturdy, supportive, and grip -- these meet all of my requirements. I considered a trail running shoe for these reasons, too, but these are better. The style is great too (not too "granola" yet not weighed down by inflexible leather). I have worn these on several day hikes in the midwest and even after 12 hours, my feet felt wonderful. No break-in period. Just slip on and go.
