- Q & A
So far so good
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 10.5
Look great. Light weight. Fits as should. Seem comfortable. Unfortunately haven't had a chance to wear them. Dislocated knee right after I bought them. Cant wait to break them in soon.
I bought these for my dad and he had this to say: "Fit is pretty accurate. I have generally wide feet and would sometimes size up to 13th for this reason, but these fit really well width wise. So far the leather has been holding up in the ice and snow, and the boots are really warm and as you'd imagine not very breathable."
Exterior Looks Great! Interior issues...
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: 10
Great styling for a Danner boot! Shape is less clunky than other Danner styles and the sizing is like a boot (I bought a half size larger than my running sneakers size, do not use an extra insole as the Ortholite insole is fine especially after break-in). They call it casual, but label it "Mountain", I've backpacked in sneakers and dayhiked in sneakers, winter boots and Timberland Earthkeepers and these 503s handles city walking and a Big Sur dayhike nicely. I've read review about the lacing not allowing for a tighter fit, however, once the boot is broken the boot laces provide enough friction to tighten just fine. One flaw, the sewing joint where the tongue meets the Danner Dry lining is thick and pointy, imagine a 3/32" hard seam an inch long projecting into your foot posterior (just below the ankle). These makes the boot difficult to wear at times, takes bit of maneuvering to get comfy, and you must wear thick socks. Hopefully it will soften over time. Only time will tell if this will be better than adequate, but for now, I'm glad I bought them for my overall winter walking shoe / trail hiker.
UPDATE: (-) 1-star. The stiff seam is still annoying with thinner socks. These boots also get very warm. DannerDry lining does not breath well enough - heat and moisture builds up to oppressive levels! I can only wear these boots in 60 degree temps and lower.
