    DAKINE Jewel 26L Backpack - Women's

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this backpack! The color combo that I purchased is no longer available but I'm so glad I snagged it while there were still a few left! I was in the market for a new backpack because I travel so much for work and needed something that would fit my massive laptop. I'm a huge fan of all dakine products and this was a perfect addition! I'm also pretty rough with backpacks and I've had it for a month or two and have put it through the wringer and the quality is great!!

    Very Disappointed in The Quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have always loved Dakine products, but this one really misses the mark on quality. I ordered this for my birthday in January and after using it maybe 3 times, the strap starting coming off of the bag. Even when I first received it (in Cortez color) it felt really cheap and the zippers were really low quality. I returned the one with the strap coming apart and Backcountry sent me another one. THAT ONE ALSO FELL APART! Now I have had the second one and literally have used it maybe 5 times (Had it since March) and the strap is coming off the pack in the exact same place. I would definitely not purchase this bag again, super disappointed in the quality of this. While I got this on sale, I am shocked it would be $70 to begin with.

    Got it for my sophomore!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My daughter is insanely picky about her book bags, let's start there. She's an A B honor roll student who is the type of kid who wakes herself up for school, outfit preps and makes her bed every single morning to avoid afternoon stress. She loves pockets for meticulous storage of her daily necessities. She also enjoys something stylish yet simple in design, no fluffy fru fru. She got this backpack and it was the perfect size, she's 5'8 and has issues with her shoulders. Luckily the shoulder straps were comfortable for her and the backpad is comfy enough to adjust to her form as she settles into it. The back lap top pocket with extended zipper is super convenient, she even said "mom, there are so many pockets that I don't even know what to do with!" - this is a great thing!

    Perfect 'Adult' Backpack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this backpack because I was in need of something to schlep around both a laptop and a tablet in addition to a binder or two and some food. I like that my electronics are cradled both from each other and the ground, and I have just enough small pockets in which to store things like pencil/calculator but not so many compartments that things get lost. Another bonus is that the pack doesn't stick way off your body like a tumor and instead holds the weight pretty close to your torso.

Overall, the more I used it, the more I like it. I purchased a (since discontinued) gray/pattern black color and it is just fun enough that I don't feel boring but still looks relatively "professional."

While the cooler pouch is a neat idea, I typically pack a dedicated lunch box (Dakine 5L cooler) because I just eat more than I can fit in the pocket alone. Lately, my noise cancelling headphone case has been living in the cooler pocket, but it usually holds my chargers or bike lights.

    Great sturdy backpack!

I love these backpacks and got this one as a gift. Love the space and pockets it has!!

      School backpack

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is an incredible backpack with its own cooler! Great for a college student need to carry multiple heavy books!

      Great Bag!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this as a gift for my girlfriend who is starting college and she absolutely loves it! She is a super neat freak and this bag passed the test with flying colors. Lots of room and the color is an added bonus

      Tofino colorway is perfect!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wanted to upgrade my bag that I use for work, very glad I went with this one! The size is perfect, I love all of the pockets and the Tofino colorway is classy and cute! Not to mention the inside print is also very awesome! Super satisfied and would reccomend buying this!!

      The Everything Backpack

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A super delayed review - I've had mine for five years but wanted to rave about how long this pack has lasted. It's taken me through my high school and college years and past that, into hiking mountains and camping and weekend stays. The cooler pocket is my favorite, a more rare Dakine pack feature. (Hey Dakine, make more packs with cooler pockets!!). Bonus tip: throw a hydration pack in the laptop sleeve and thread the tube through the top, throw a rubber band on the shoulder strap and boom- you have a hydration daypack. As far as maintenance, it goes through the washer and dryer every couple weeks (supposed to air-dry, never have time for it to sit around). The only physical damage is some of the interior lining is fraying inside the laptop sleeve - no biggie. Dakine gives you your money's worth for years. Your pattern will go out of style before your pack fails you.

      Pulani Blue

I needed a new beach bag. I live near the NH coast with many beaches 15-30min away so summer is always beach time. Because of the frequency of how often we go we bring alot and like to pack lite. I'm also a photgrapher so sometimes I bring my dslr. I was quickly outgrowing my beach bag. And we dont bring chairs, just towels. So packing: bug spray, body sunscreen, facial sunscreen, aloe, hairband, keys, nook, aqua gear, change of clothes, camera, cell phone, food, etc. It fits a ton! Plus the food cooler is amazing. I love all the pockets as well! A really great buy for anything you need.

        Wife Loves it

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this for my wife, she needed something light, walks a lot and takes the bus, and she loves how it looks and how light it is. Also said the cooler is nice to have, and works well.
