Hands down

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Had this pack since it first came out and it has been THE backpack for everything I do. It's been on trips, overnight trips, hikes, school, drug in the mud, thrown in a car, commutes, rain, and of course all the skiing trips hiking and sweat. Its taken all the abuse and still going strong. Love the size, it sits flat, carries the right amount of stuff. Wish I had one for each activity I do.

Couldn't be happier

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this pack to compliment an array of packs that all seemed to fall short in one way or another. I truly feel like my backcountry kit is complete. I've used this for all day events in the Wasatch, traveling to Canada / Japan and even for inbounds resort days when I plan to hike the sidecountry. The last use case is where this really shines. I'm able to get the pack on and off with ease getting on the lift, snap back in really quickly and be on my way. The pack is low profile as well, so there's no concern with extra bulk. While I find this pack to be perfect for a day trip, I would be reticent to try to cram in overnight supplies. The color and fit are wonderful.

Plenty of space

This pack will hold just about everything you need for an all day tour. The only thing I do not like is that the top pocket does not connect to the main compartment of the bag.

Go-To Winter Pack

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack is the BOMB. I've used it for sledding, touring, and just traveled through Japan with it- I LOVE it.

To start, they really picked up the the design for this pack. It's a full 28L but definitely designed in a way to be slimmer against your back rather than awkwardly bulky. It's got a lot more pockets than the standard classic Dakine Heli- it's taken me a few tries to get the zippers down... There's a fleece lined goggle/glasses pocket (with a divider so you can stash a few things without scratching your lenses). You have the front tools pocket- just barely fits my shovel and probe, if you have a larger shovel you may be out of luck fitting it in this pocket. There's another top pocket with a mesh zippered pocket inside- good for stashing other small random goods. There's also the stash pocket that stores the strap for ski carry, and I've found that you can fit even more goodies in there. Finally, you have the back access big compartment, great for storing clothes and spare goggs. Plus a zippered water bottle pocket on the side (fits my 24oz Hydroflask or my 32oz Nalgene no problem). Overall, really great design and easy to keep your stuff straight.

Another plus is the zippers work seamlessly- I've stuffed this thing full and still could zip it up easy. Easy to use compression straps to bring the size down when it's not stuffed to the brim, and adjustable waist and chest straps. Plus, by far one of my favorite features, the webbing grab handle at the top- SUPER secure. After using this in the backcountry and every day traveling in Japan, I couldn't be any more stoked on this bag!

Does this pack have vertical and horizontal staps for snowboards?

Sexiest Pack Ever

I've never really felt this way about a backpack before but I just got it and I had to write a review. Dakine has really stepped up their game this year. I'm an so impressed with how functional this pack its. I CANNOT WAIT to take it out on a tour! It has all the things a girl needs out in the backcountry.

It has all the standard stuff, Goggle pocket, ski carry, adjustable chest/waist straps and hydration sleeve. BUT IT ALSO has a deploy-able helmet carry so snow doesn't get into your helmet while skinning. Back panel entry so you can access your stuff quickly. Did I mention the zippers are secure and it's easy to open since there are no pesky flaps in the way. Also low volume so that it keeps the weight closer to your body so you don't get thrown off balance while skiing.

Not only does it have functionality to it, it also has an awesome sleek design just for women. Specially made for female torsos and also the colors are so freaking cool! Dakine really had a woman's need in mind when making this pack. I would highly recommend this pack to any lady that likes to earn her turns.
