Almost but not quite

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Compression shorts are great for blood flow, but my dad tried these and found them just a bit too tight. He also overheated running in these in the San Diego 100 race (but to be fair it was 100+ degrees out). So for colder weather and a bit looser, he would have liked them better.

Great compression shorts

Awesome compression, true to size, and well ventilated. 5 star all the way!

compression shorts on steroids!

they are awesome! nothing comes close. The venting is awesome also. CW-X make great stuff that no one else does. Pricey but worth it!

Just what I (k)need

If you're looking for running shorts that go to the knee that breath well on warmer runs, look no further. I started running in tights this winter and loved them. I was looking for something that would give me similar support, but for warmer jogs. I picked these up and couldn't be happier with the purchase. I run a 10k in these 3-4 times a week. These offer great support without holding in the heat. I'll pick up another pair in the future. Great fit for tights, runs true to size. I usually run about a 32" waist and picked up the medium.

Doing what they are supposed to

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have a pair of CW-X knee length for fall and spring when it's colder. I needed something that would help with long runs in the summer. I do nothing but trail running, often with lots of hard, pounding downhills that tire the legs pretty quickly. So far, these are working great and I'm less tired on some of my regular runs than when I run without them or with other branded compression shorts. I'll probably buy a 2nd pair because I like them enough. I'm 5'11", 160lbs and wear a Medium. The fit true to size.

Didn't notice a difference

I picked these up for running, figuring reducing recovery time would be nice. I tried them on my normal run circuit for a couple weeks, and really noticed no improvement. If anything, I actually felt more tired since I was warmer and they felt a bit restricting to my movement. I kept them figuring that they'll be OK for running in the winter, but have otherwise stopped using them. I do have a "natural form" running style (forefoot strike), resulting in most of my work being in my calves, so perhaps these are just unnecessary for me.

What I like:

*fit seems accurate

What I don't like:

*no noticeable recovery improvement

*feels slightly restrictive to movement

*keeps me warmer than I'd like - I can't imagine wearing these in the summer

Sizing: I'm 5'-10", <32" waist, ~150 lbs and the medium fit well.

Hi I would like to know what size i would...

Hi I would like to know what size i would be im 5'3" in height but weight 90kg... my waistline is 39.5-40" would large do good for me?? pls reply i need an answer by tomorrow im about to buy one

Hello Pio.

According to the size chart yes you would require a Large, though they may be somewhat long in length on the thigh.

So far so good

I've worn these for jogging and some intervals. So far I have to say I really like them. They're very comfortable and do not restrict movement. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend this much money on shorts, but I'm glad I did. Temps have mostly been cool on my runs (60's), so I don't know what they will be like in the heat. Also, the CW-X underwear works well underneath these.

    Great for long runs

Overall, after one long run these tights felt great. I believe they helped in a quicker recovery of my quads and hammys. The black thick material made it feel warmer though at 71 degrees F. I 'd like to see lighter color versions. I am borderline at 5'9'',168-170. Should I have bought a small instead of a medium? Maybe these should be made in 'tweener sizes like Small/Medium. It will be nice to have a mesh window placed in the rear area just above the tail bone. I sweat profusely there after long runs.

      I am 5'10 and 180 with a 33 waist. What...

      I am 5'10 and 180 with a 33 waist. What size should I choose?

CW-X says you should be a pretty solid medium.

      worth it, seriously

Great stuff: so far I've used them for running intervals, jogging, and working out at gym. Like magic, no soreness (and I'm old and out of shape). Ventilation is surprisingly good: it's been in the 90s and I feel no warmer down there than in loose running shorts. Warm up the bank card, they're worth it. I'll be getting the full tights in the fall.

        Go-To running shorts

These shorts are great ! They really do live up to the hype regarding support and comfort. Unlike other compression shorts these stay put once you get them on. (make sure you don't buy them too big, they need to be tight) They provide very good support to your upper leg muscles without being too constrictive. The ventilator panel does help but because the material is fairly heavy to provide support, these shorts are warm compared to others made from lighter weight material. A worth while trade off as far as I'm concerned.
Give these bad boys a shot. You won't be disappointed

I am 6'7" and 215 lbs. With a 33" waist. Should I go with the XL?

          I am 5'9 155lbs to 160lbs and I wear a medium with a 32" waist....My brother is 6'2 180lbs to 185lbs and he wears a large....(34 waist) I think xl for your height and weight!!!!

Jon, you would be an XL

          CW-X shorts

Just got these a couple of weeks ago and they rock. I have a pair of the long CW-X compression pants for cooler weather. CW-X makes a high quality product that is worth the extra money. Great for running, working out and biking.

            I am 5'9" and 155 lbs. Am I a small?

            I am 5'9" and 155 lbs. Am I a small?

I would say go with a medium....

Andrew, you're borderline between a sm and med. Since you want these to be snug, I would go with a small

            Worth the money

I sweat a lot, regular running shorts feel like I am running in wet diapers after about an hour, these work great and I think it may be helping my form. I think it also helps recovery and improves my workouts. Just need to save up to buy a couple more pairs.

              feel great

I got these to help with recovering from a nasty hip flexor injury. It helps a lot, i have yet to use them for their actual purpose, but I imagine they'll be amazing. I'm a 38ish waist, i snagged the XL and it fits great.

                Great Shorts!!

I play soccer quite a bit and needed something a bit more supportive than a pair of cotton boxers. I got all that and more with the ventilator shorts. These keep the lads in place, and provide the compression needed to recover quickly from afternoons of mind-blowingly fast sprints to and from the goal. Combined with the Ventilator Top SS, I sometimes mistake myself for Lionel Messi. Bottom line is that these shorts are really great for anyone who needs to perform while running.

Do you guys wear anything under these...

Do you guys wear anything under these shorts?

They are like cycling tights wear you do not wear anything underneath....

NO! these are meant to be the underneath to other shorts.

I asked the same thing on the CW-X site. Their response was:

We always recommend that you wear a synthetic sport brief under the shorts to prevent any possibility of irritation

                  Keeping it together!

I love these shorts! Honestly I just wear them around the house occasionally because I like the feel of them. I'm 6'2" 185lbs and the Large works just fine for me. They do a great job of "keeping everything together" and I don't feel it as much after those long runs in the middle of the summer day. A bit expensive, but I don't think I'll be running in anything else.
