Snow Rival Jacket

When it comes to staying comfy at the ski resort all day, the Columbia Men's Snow Rival Jacket is pretty much unrivaled. Its waterproof, breathable Omni-Tech membrane includes fully taped seams to prevent a single snowflake from seeping through, and Omni-Heat includes lightweight insulation as well as a reflective lining that bounces your body heat back your way for a surprising amount of warmth. If you get too warm, ventilation zippers under each arm can cool you down quickly. The hood removes for sunny, bluebird weather, and the adjustable powder skirt cinches down when the storm's bringing plenty of powder. There are plenty of pockets for goggles, media players, ski passes, and more.

  • Technical ski jacket provides an unrivaled performance
  • Waterproof, breathable Omni-Tech laminated to stretchy fabric
  • Omni-Heat insulates and reflects warmth back to your body
  • Ventilation zippers under each sleeve amplify airflow
  • Removable hood and adjustable powder skirt customize coverage

Snow Rival- check

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

In December I went skiing for first time in 30 years to Co. Taking with me my trusted Columbia 3-1 jacket. It is still stylish and great shape and functional. But... wanted something a bit lighter in weight. After comparing the Snow Rival to other brands, decided on this one. Other than the color being a bit off from the pictures, it is a very good jacket and very comfortable.. Wore it for three days in Tahoe from 10 degrees to about 30. Stayed toasty, but was a little warm at the upper temp. Only wore a thin silk long sleeve liner and an UA ColdHeat shirt underneath. Very pleased with the purchase. I might add that I lean a little towards the Columbia brand since their service has been very good over the 35 yrs I've used their products.(I've never been an employee or tester) For the quality of the jacket, it's very reasonably priced.

Great Jacket - Columbia Does It Again

I was in the market for a new jacket coming from a Columbia Cubist 2.0. I looked at many jackets from many brands, and for the price this jacket has the best combination of style, features, warmth and premium materials that I could find. Other brands have similar jackets that are more expensive with fewer features.

I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where winters are about as good (or bad depending on your view) as they get. I use this jacket as an all-around winter jacket, including snowboarding, shoveling, snowblowing, walking dogs, commuting to work and more. I don't ever need more than a base layer and a T-shirt for most of those activities. Maybe a light sweatshirt if I'm going to be inactive outside and want to be really toasty.

Some of my favorite features of this jacket are the “invisible” zippers on the front and the handwarmer pockets, the quick and easy drawcords at the hood and hem (it’s a small thing, but the adjustment device on this jacket is so much nicer than other jackets I’ve used), the contoured cuffs with the comfort cuff, the pit zips for when you get too warm, the powder skirt for skiing/snowboarding, and the pockets. This jacket has all the pockets you’ll need. Also, if you've never tried a Columbia jacket with the Omniheat reflective lining, do yourself a favor and try it - it really works and adds another level of warmth to the typical insulated jacket. You can tell this jacket is in the Titanium collection because all of the materials are a step better than Columbia’s other jackets, and it makes for a Superior jacket (Yooper joke).

I also really like the look and fit of this jacket. I got the Dark Mountain color, and it’s pretty true to the pictures – kind of a grayish blue, orange hood liner, red zipper strings. The pictures don't show the interior, but the orange accents continue inside. It’s an understated look, with a little bit of flash. Perfect in my books. Everything is very true to Columbia’s typical sizing – I usually wear a Large, and it fits me perfectly with room for any layers I would need.

Overall, this is a fantastic jacket, and I’m super happy with my purchase.
