Saturday Trail Short

When you're out hiking on hot, sunny days, the Columbia Women's Saturday Trail Short keeps you comfortable and protected by keeping things to a minimum. With a shorter five-inch inseam length, less fabric over your legs means more access to fresh air. The hand pockets are mesh for improved ventilation, and thanks to Omni-Shield fabric technology, the shorts quickly release and repel moisture so you're not constantly soaked in sweat or drenched after an unexpected rain shower. The UPF 50-rated Omni-Shade fabric reduces your exposure to harmful UV rays. There are two areas where the short focuses on maximizing rather than minimizing: the fabric offers both up-and-down and side-to-side stretch for excellent moving comfort, and a mid-rise waist for a secure, full-coverage fit.

  • Nylon and elastane with two-way comfort stretch
  • Active slim fit
  • Mid rise and shorter length with 5-inch inseam
  • Omni-Shield water-repellent, quick-drying fabric technology
  • Omni-Shade UPF 50-rated sun protection
  • Mesh hand pockets

Another Columbia shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: M

They look nice, but run slightly small! I probably should have gotten the large but got the medium. It does stretch out though after wearing it for a little. But the fabric is awesome. Can dry easily and very breathable

Very Useful

I was happy when I found out that my favorite hiking pants also come in a short version. They're awesome! I wear them on hikes and to my clinical rotations. They're very flattering and I enjoy the pockets. I ordered a size up because in the Saturday Trail Pants, I found that the waist ran small. They are comfy and have a modest length to them.

Great fit

I love these shorts for hiking and running around the playground with my toddler

    Nice Fabric, versatile shorts

    • Fit: Runs small

I love the fabric. Has more stretch and give than other Columbia shorts. A little shorter and more form fitting, too. I am usually size 6 , occasionally size 8. I little tight. Exchanging for size 8 but think these will be very versatile.

The size 8 is great fit. The indigo will match many of my summer tops. I bought a black pair, too. They are shorter than my average shorts but flattering.

    Just purchased my second pair..

So I went in to a local outdoor retailer and tried atleast five different pairs of technical shorts..

Very Nearly The Perfect Pair of Shorts

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 2

These shorts are just about perfect. For me, they are the ideal length for hiking - which is slightly shorter than most other "hiking shorts." The fit is very flattering; they look nice off the trail too and are great for traveling. I've worn them while traveling through cities, hiking in the mountains, even out to dinner and some "nicer" summer events. They are very lightweight and dry quickly (ideal for traveling). My one concern is this: the material seems to be starting to pill on the front just above the hemline. I've had these shorts for a few months, and have worn them regularly (but not daily!) through the summer. I with they felt a little more durable. Hopefully they hold up! They are super comfortable and cute shorts!

I pretty much live in these all summer. Comfy and stretchy fabric.

      Extremely comfortable

These shorts are extremely comfortable and suitable for hiking or boating. They are so stretchy and light weight that it feels as though I have nothing on...they are great. They seem as though they would dry quickly. (I actually know they do as a friend of mine kayaks in them.) What I didn't like about them, is that they have no secure pockets for keys for example. The slash pockets in front feel as though small items could easily fall out. The pockets in back may be more secure but it would look and feel strange to put much in them. Another issue for me was the style- nothing wrong, but nothing great either. I wear a 2 or 4 or 6 and in these shorts the 6 was comfortable.
