Hiking should make you happy.

When you slide out of the car at the trailhead, pull on the Columbia Men’s Lone Fir 650 Turbodown Hooded Jacket to stay cozy. A combination of TurboDown and Omni-Heat synthetic insulation shuts out the cold air around you as an Omni-Heat reflective lining traps the heat you create and returns it back to you. Water-resistant fabric discourages moisture from seeping through in case you happen upon a flurry while you’re hiking, and an adjustable hem and bindings at the cuffs and hood seal off entry and exit points.

  • Insulated jacket for winter hiking
  • TurboDown and Omni-Heat insulation trap heat
  • Omni-Heat reflective lining returns your body heat
  • Water-resistant fabric deflects light moisture
  • Binding at hood and cuffs and drawcord hem hold heat in

Warm but....

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

I love this jacket. I live in NYC and we've been hitting -19 celsius lately and it has kept me warm. For me the only downside is there's not much breathing room. I can't go over 2 layers underneath. The shoulders fit kind of tight. I totally would've given it a 5 star if it had inside pockets!
Don't get me wrong, it has become my go to jacket. Warm and lightweight. Only downside, cannot layer.
I would recommend it to others . :)

Perfect fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Love the color and it fits perfectly. it is very warm and feels well made. The only cons - I've never owned a down filled jacket but I've found a few stray feathers on my clothes after taking it off and it's kinda noisy.

Photos and color are not accurate

I ordered the mosstone color and when I received it, the inside of the hood and collar area was a bright green. The photos shown on Backcountry or Columbia's websites don't show this. I'm a fan of the mosstone but hated the lime green hood.

With Backcountry's great customer service I was able to exchange it for one in black. The black is all black, including the collar and inside of the hood.

The jacket is well built and warm. I''m 5'8" 200, got a size large, the shoulders are little snug as well as the bottom hem, but not enough to limit mobility. The interior is roomy enough to layer a hoodie or lighter jacket underneath. The jacket is very warm and the front slash pockets are fleece lined, which is nice.

As other's have mentioned, an exterior chest pocket or inside pocket would be handy but it's not a deal breaker for me. Drawstrings on the hood would also be convenient.

Overall, a very good jacket, especially if you get it on sale. Backcountry's customer service was great and will continue to earn my business.

Down leaking out

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I purchased this on Oct. 29, 2017. It has been about 2 months and it's still leaking down. I understand that down leaks for the first few weeks, but this is excessive. It has a tight fit around the bottom so when you are about to sit down, you have to pull up the jacket. While it does retain heat, that also becomes its downside. It is not breathable at all compared to other jackets that retain heat but breathable. When I first got it, it had some white stains near the logo. I was thinking of returning it or getting an exchange but then I thought it was just a small damage. The fabric outside makes it look like it has been used and washed a lot because I have the black one and it's faded.I wish I can return it or even get a partial refund. I feel like I wasted my money.

This Coat Rocks!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave as gift - feedback below:
"So far, I've only worn this for a couple days in snowfall and cold winds in NYC and I am impressed. It fits true to size (i'm 5'11"/200lbs and I got a large). The outside fabric feels rugged and is nicely water resistant. Not as overly puffy as other down jackets, but still super cozy even in cold winds due to the interior heat reflective lining. The large has enough wiggle room that I can layer a zip hoodie or fleece under without feeling constricted which is great, though additional layers probably won't be necessary until temps drop far below freezing."

Great Jacket. Warm & fits well!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I bought the medium. I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs. It fits well. Super warm.
