Lightning Lift Jacket

All's warm when he's walking to school during the wintertime in the Columbia Boy's Lightning Lift Jacket. This is one of Columbia's heavier-insulated option to keep warm when winter's at it's coldest. Columbia treated the shell with reliable water-resistance when it's snowing, and adjustments at the hood block out bad weather.

  • Heavily insulated jacket keeps warm in winter's coldest
  • Omni-Shield water-resistance sheds snowflakes and raindrops
  • Adjustments at hood and cuff keep cold out

Zipper Splits

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought this for my 11 year old son and didn't know about the faulty zipper initially because he doesn't zip his coat. However, with the recent below zero wind chills we realized that the zipper splits up from the bottom constantly. I've had it 34 days so cannot return it for a refund. I will be replacing this coat for a North Face from Moosejaw.

Love this jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Bought this jacket for my son and he loves it! It has lasted through last season and still looks great for this winter.

Nice jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this for my very picky 10-year-old son before a trip snowboarding. The jacket does feel a bit light so you may want to layer underneath it however he loves the look and the way it fits. For the price, I don’t know how you could find something better!

I bought 4, seriously

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Due to kids growing fast and kids tend to loose things I have now bought 4 of these jackets over the past three years. The following are the reasons I keep coming back:
1. Warm enough to keep them warm on cold days and while skiing
2. The hood fits so good my kid always puts it on
3. The quality is great
4. You can put it in the washing machine and it looks great coming out
5. It's a great value for the price

Faulty Zipper

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

My seven year old son's previous coat became too small so in a crunch, we tried out this website to order a coat. I received it and within the second time of him wearing it, the zipper split. When attempting to exchange the product, I was informed that I had to either send the faulty coat back and then wait for the replacement (leaving him without a coat for days), or purchase a new coat and then send the faulty one back and wait approximately two weeks to receive my money back. With neither being an option and with no better option presented to me, I have decided to purchase a new coat elsewhere and just receive my money back for this faulty coat. The customer service rep offered to help me find a "more durable option" stating that Columbia offers the best discounts, however, they do not offer the best quality. Not exactly what you want to hear on your first time purchasing from this site.

Good Jacket But Runs Narrow

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

I bought this coat for my son as an early birthday present before we got snow. It's well made and looks very warm, like all Columbia coats we've owned. The only thing is that the torso runs much narrower than other Columbia coats I have purchased for him. So even though the sleeves are long enough, I am returning for the next size up so that hopefully it will fit next winter too.

Great Jacket For The Youngsters!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I grabbed a couple of these for my nephews who were visiting here in Utah for Christmas. They needed something extra warm as they are used to the warm winters down in Phoenix. The 240 grams of synthetic insulation pulled through. They played in the snow frequently and never seemed to get too cold!

Are these coats good for the Minnesota cold weather. I see the news anchors wear these coats and jackets just so Curious on any pictures unzip the coats for display that would be very nice

Hi Sandra,

This jacket should keep an active boy warm on cold winter days. 240g of insulation is considered a heavy winter coat. The Omni Shield outer fabric will keep wet snow from penetrating.

So you think i should order xl coats for my boys hat are those sizes

I would recommend ordering their true size. Let me know if they don't fit and I would be happy to facilitate an exchange

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Inseam:
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
Sleeve Length:
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
