ChromeFolsom Short - Men's

Built for the ride.

Sure, cutoff jeans are economical and work just fine for short-distance rides, but when you're in the saddle for more than a few minutes at a time, shorts actually designed for the rigors of riding make all the difference. That's where Chrome's new Folsom Shorts come in.

These shorts are made from the water-resistant, durable 4-way stretch Everest fabric, which means that they're going to pull sweat away from your skin and repel moisture at the exterior. In other words, you're going to stay dry, cool, and comfortable throughout your ride.

In terms of construction, Chrome cut the Folsoms specifically for riding. There's a five-bar webbing U-Lock holster, the rear pockets are "floating" to prevent chafing, the crotch is double-gusseted and seamless, and the shorts are sewn with a three-needle flatlock stitch throughout in order to prevent irritation. Your skin will thank you for leaving the cutoff dungarees in the closet.

The Chrome Industries Folsom Shorts - Men's are available in even sizes 28 to 36 and in the colors Black and Olive.

Sizing is way off scale

The sizing on these shorts runs much smaller than the what you would normally wear. Would suggest anyone who's buying these short to get a size or two up.

Great Riding Shorts

These are great riding shorts. They breath really well and are super comfortable. Well made for commuting via bike.

Great fit.

Bought these because most MTB shorts are huge and I enjoy breathability as much as having a wide range of motion. They fit super well which results in not snagging on the saddle at any time. Wish the chrome logo was more discreet and that they weren't so expensive but have zero performance complaints. For fit reference, I wear a size 31 in Levis 511 and ordered these in a 32 and they fit snugly aka no need for a belt.

I don't understand how the previous reviewers said the shorts run true to size. I'm a 32 in Rapha shorts, they share the same flexy stretchy material as well

Folsom for sure.

I purchased a pair of these for my husband's birthday, and he's totally in love. In terms of its weight, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying capabilities, the Folsom short appears to be slightly lighter than the Patagonia Quandry fabric, yet it's more stretchy and soft-against-the-skin than the Prana Zion material - which in his opinion is incredibly ideal. Thus far, he's biked, hiked, and climbed in these shorts and has no complaints. Also, the DWR treatment sheds light precipitation which is awfully convenient for spring commuting. He's something of a string bean and typically a 30x30 or 30x32 and the 30 fits perfectly. The length is also great and falls just above the knee. To say the least, he's stoked and these are now his go-to shorts for just about everything.

Wanted to love, but too snug

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I really wanted to love these shorts. They are designed and made well out of an excellent material. They're just cut too dang tight for me in the crotch / butt / thighs, even though the waist is a perfect fit. So sizing up is not going to work. Maybe the fit model is really skinny...Or maybe I'm just too old to wear shorts this snug...

Best all city shorts ever

Super stertchy, snug fit in the crotch to keep seat and mounting conflicts minimal. What really makes these shorts is they are tough! I've wiped out in them several times, saved my butt from road rash and never a run or a tear in them.

If I'm a 33" waist do I size up to 34 or down to 32?

Best Answer

34. I'm a normally a 31 and the 32 fits me well.

Noah - awesome, thanks!!

Edit - I returned the 34s as they were still to small.

I strongly disagree. I would go a size down. These shorts are VERY stretchy...yet durable

These are perfect for commuting. They are remarkably comfortable on a bicycle, but feel like normal shorts off of one. The pockets are sufficiently deep to keep contents secure while riding, and the u-lock holder is a remarkably useful feature. The fabric is very breathable, but still ruggedly durable. I highly, highly recommend these shorts to anyone who likes to commute by bicycle.

What size waist are you?

will the front pockets securely hold a phone while biking?

do they zip close?

Hey Joe! Thanks for your question.

These pants don't have zippered pockets. The front pockets should hold a phone no problem, just don't forget it's in there.

Feel free to call or chat in with any other questions!

Joe, I bought a pair of these and my first reaction was "I won't ride with my iPhone 6 in this pocket". It fits fine, sure. Especially casually. When riding though, I felt the cut was too low on the pocket and I would fear the phone would fall out.

necessary item in my opinion

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

As a NYC bike commuter these shorts are perfect. Unlike Chrome’s Union shorts, they are much slimmer and shorter. They appear like regular everyday shorts so as I stop for coffee on my way to work, I am not the foolio in full spandex.

The material is key; lightweight, 4 way stretch, breathable but still repels water. The inside crotch area is a single sheet of fabric so there is no seam for added comfort on the bike. A little expensive but worth it. I would recommend them to bike commuters who don’t to carry and change into casual shorts every time they go for a ride to meet friends at happy hour.

S, M, L, XL

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Refered to the sizing chart. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that pant size at checkout. M refers to size 32 and not 32 - 34" in the chart above. I can still squeeze into the pants (am a 34"), but wondering if I can live with the tighter waist... Otherwise, material feels like the Folsom long pants - as in solid ...
