- Q & A
Run Small, Great Boot
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Before purchasing the Chaco Harper Mid, I read many reviews that advised to size up in this style. I read the Harper boot was narrow, uncomfortable, and difficult to put on. I already own the Chaco Hopi boots and love them so much, that I was willing to take a chance on the Harper. The advice on sizing up was correct. The Harper in size 9 is identical in length to the Hopi size 8. For additional size reference, I wear size 8 in Chaco sandals. I do not have a wide foot (wear size 39 N) in Birkenstocks, but I do have a high arch, and I did not have any difficulty putting these on. As far as comfort, the Harper is definitely not as comfortable as the Hopi. There is a good deal of arch support built into Harper insole. The leather at the top of the boot is very stiff and does not conform to your foot shape (we will see if it softens over time). Overall, I would recommend but size up one size from your regular Chaco sandal size.
Women's Chaco Harper mid shoe
Hi I was wondering how these shoes fit? Is there a roomy toe box?? Do these have good arch support??? And I have a small heel would these be good for me? I have Chaco sandals and I love them...
Hey Gina, These shoes are a great choice for folks with a narrow heel and wide forefoot. I think they'd be a perfect fit! As with all Chacos, these do have great arch support.
Unique and Comfy
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I got these boots in the gray color. I get a lot of compliments as they’re super cute!
Pros: cute, unique, soft footbed and comfortable for walking
Cons: it’s difficult to get my foot into the shoe as the whole upper is one molded piece-you have to wiggle and tug like crazy to get the whole foot past the ankle hole and the heel tug strap isn’t long enough to actually grip and pull to help lever the foot into place! They also run a bit narrow/low for how it fits around the top of the foot so I’d recommend going a half size up and if you have really wide feet or “thick” feet when measuring from sole up the height of your foot-to-ankle area, these shoes may not work for you.
Chaco's Harper Bridges Gaps
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Is it possible that there's a shoe in existence that an bridge almost a decade of discordance between a woman and her mother-in-law? I assert the affirmative and that the shoe in question is the Harper. One rainy afternoon, we spent hours discussing my MIL's difficulties in finding footwear (narrow heel that gives way to wide toes) and looking at possible solutions. Finally, I showed her my waterproof Chaco boots and it was love at first sight! I bought her these for Christmas and haven't heard a single complaint. Moreover, when the arrived, I fell in love and have every intention of ordering a pair for myself. Whether or not we twin in public is a totally different story.
