Castelli S. Uno Gloves
CastelliS. Uno Gloves

Number one protection.

One trip to the ER to have gravel scrubbed out of your palms will convince you to never go gloveless. The Castelli S. Uno Glove fits like a second skin so you’ll have protection without the bulk.

Beginning with the palms, the S. Uno use ultra-suede, a durable fabric that is also pliable and soft. The palms are lightly padded, which provides some vibration protection for your hands while also allowing a secure grip around the bars. The backs of the hands are constructed from micro-mesh, which helps keep your hands cool so you’re able to wear them even in the heat of summer. The thumbs feature a debossed micro-suede panel, and they are secured with hook-and-loop tabs at the wrists. Reflective logos have been added for a little extra visibility.

Good gloves overall

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I’ve worn these for the past few summers, and they always get the job done. The white color will stay pretty clean as long as you wash any stains the same day that you ride them. Some people complain about thin padding, but I feel like it gives me more control. I value the fact that the palms are very grippy, even in wet weather or if I’ve been sweating a lot. They also don’t stretch or get bogged down by sweat, but they will hold in water if you get caught in the rain. The biggest complaint I have is that the backing on the velcro came unglued and it’s been annoying to try and fix it without either putting a few stitches in or using shoe glue but trying not to make a mess all over the glove. Overall it’s minor; I still ride them regularly.

Decent glove, but…

... velcro wrist strap is too stiff and therefore cumbersome. Velcro backing does not extend all the way to the tip of the securing strap, so it projects outward and can rub/snag. I ended up snipping that part off. Otherwise, it's a perfectly serviceable glove--at least four stars. But with such an egregious flaw, and having to make drastic modifications because of it, I had to take off major points. I expected more from Castelli.

Great Gloves!

These gloves have been awesome for me... Riding in a hot and humid summer heat, they have held up well on rides and not stretched or become too saturated for wiping sweat out of my eyes and off my forehead. I have long worn Castelli gloves and the sizing was spot on.

Too loose.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I commute daily and road race on weekends. I have small hands (6 3/4" from wrist to top of middle finger), bought the small size and I think they are still too loose. They are sort of acceptable for commuting and but definitely not racing. The palm area seems poorly designed and you feel your hands slip around in the gloves. The strap would be better if it were fabric and wrapped under the wrist rather than over.

The pull tabs to remove the gloves are fantastic!!! I wish all gloves had these! I also think the padding is adequate, did an 80 mile ride with lots of climbing and my hands did not get fatigued nor did I feel pressure points from the padding.

Great value

Great value, decent padding but could use a little more. But for the money, it is a great value and life comes with compromises.

    VERY LITTLE Padding

the padding is a joke, if your only riding 10 miles they mught be OK , but if your palms need more padding look for some other gloves

These get the job done. I like these because they don't have too much padding in the palm. Some gel gloves have thick padding and cause my hands to get sore. These ones have just enough. My only complaint is the fingers are for people with fat fingers. The finger holes are really large. I'm 5,7 and 140lbs.
