More Jersey than Jacket
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Large
This is a nice layer, that I will enjoy owning. But it is more like a thermal jersey than a jacket if you live somewhere even moderately wet. The first morning I took it out on a cold foggy ride and glad I brought a shell to put over, as the Nelmezzo would not have kept me warm enough. The pockets in the back are okay, the material is so stretchy like a Gabba that sometimes getting things out is difficult. Do not like their key pocket solution on the the side; if I put my keys in it I constantly hit them with my leg into my ribs. The color and reflective bands for visibility without being another hideous neon jacket were a big selling point. All that said it is a good layer I will use for years, but I wouldn't trust it for much beyond a short mild rain.
As with most Castelli items I strongly recommend going one size up from most brands. I usually wear mediums tops/bottoms and glad I ordered a large, it fits great. It def fits svelte but not quite full race fit. With a light LS wool layer I'd say the ideal temp range is about 45–55º.
Just an excellent, concise review...thanks!
