CastelliIllumina Jacket - Women's

Illuminatingly good.

The members of several of Castelli-sponsored women's pro teams know something you should: the Castelli Illumina Jacket is amazing. Made of proprietary fabrics and fit to your body in both functional and flattering form, it's a favorite for hardcore competitors and casual cyclists alike.

The Illumina Jacket is made of a high-tech woven polyester called SG0.6 Riga, which is lightly insulating and yet breathable, serving to protect your core while also accelerating the process of evacuating moisture that builds up when the sun comes out or when the pace picks up. On top of the Riga fabric, the front of the jacket is paneled by Gore Windstopper X-Lite to ensure incredibly weather-worthiness without compromising the jacket's ventilating properties. To this end, a blended polyester/spandex fabric called Nano Flex is used in the jacket's underarms, allowing greater breathability than Riga overall, while allowing excellent your arms an excellent range of motion and superb comfort, particularly in a riding position. The dropped tail of the jacket is hemmed with grippy silicone to prevent unwanted spray from behind, and just above it are three rear pockets to store all of your necessary cargo. Reflective trim details increase your visibility in case you find yourself riding along dark roads.

The Castelli Illumina Women's Jacket comes in three colors — Violet, Lime, and Coral — and in five sizes, from X-Small to X-Large. The jacket is recommended for a temperature range of 35-55 degrees Fahrenheit.

A little dissappointed

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is the second jacket in a row (for my wife) where the arms are really baggy in the XS. Same problem with the Magia.
