Designed for pros, now available for us mortals.

Previously an exclusive jersey for pros competing on the World Tour, the Castelli Men's Free AR 4.1 Limited Edition Jersey saves approximately 12 watts at 40 kilometers per hour, compared to a traditional race-fit jersey. Seeing it's designed to shave split-seconds from competitive racing pursuits, you'll find the aero, race-specific cut hugs your body like a second skin. However, it's fabricated with a high degree of stretch, so you'll retain full range of motion and remain comfortable across long distances.

Now that it's available for us mere mortals, Castelli updated it with all the bells and whistles to maximize functionality on everyday rides, including a rear-zip pocket for securing essentials on the road. The jersey itself is comprised of Velocity dimpled fabric along the front and shoulders to improve the aerodynamic efficiency, subsequently shaving precious time from your racing and training pursuits. Castelli didn't stop there with aero design details, going one step further by placing Nervato fabric along the armholes for a slippery, resistance-cutting effect.

race jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jersey is just what it is supposed to be- super slim and well cut to fit like a second skin for maximum aero/race fit. It is very breathable and stretchy so you don't even notice it is on. Perfect for fast long rides in the saddle on hot summer days. It fits 'true to size' in that this jersey is meant to be race cut and fitted. That being said it doesn't feel tight because it is so stretchy- it is quite comfortable. It is much more breathable and light than my similar Pearl Izumi and LG race jerseys, but this comes at the cost of less durable material. You do have to be careful with the 'mesh' sleeves as they can snag easily. I wear a medium and it fits perfect.

Ah,......Castelli......

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Once again, trying on a new Castelli garment is like trying a new Italian wine.....interesting, stylish and sometimes surprising. My surprise is that the medium I ordered and tried on didn’t even come close to fitting my 66”/143lb frame. I have numerous Castelli garments and I would say this fits (I couldn’t get it around my front) like an extra small might fit. It is a very good looking jersey, but I am afraid that a large will be adequate in certain areas and too big in others. BTW, the other medium Castelli Jersey I purchased fits perfectly.......who knew?

but its Castelli

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: large

This is a great jersey for moderate temperatures. The fabric vents very well, but is slightly too thick to be comfortable on super hot days. Overall the fit is good, and sizing runs slightly small. The pockets are quite large and perfect for long rides where you need to carry a lot with you. In addition, there is a small zip pocket for keys or your phone.
