Cane Creek 40 series has a workhorse reputation at a pretty good price. Cant beat the value here.

pressed this bad larry into my frame and have had no issues. I do regularly clean the headset throughout the year to keep things running smooth.

you can spend more, but why...

Cane Creek 40 series is one of the best values going in headsets. Sealed, smooth and size options to fit just about any headtube available. I often want a more upright position and pair a lower with the 'tall top' lets me get a few millimeters height without additional spacers or using a super-rise stem. I've purchased Cane creek 110 series and King headsets in the past--thinking I'll hold onto the bike forever... Those bikes have been sold and new owners are enjoying that great headset bling. I'm now building my bikes with these--great value and still great for new owners when they bike moves on.

    Smooth

Really happy with the Cane Creek headset on my bike last year, easy to install and super smooth.
