Good Boot for the Money

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are my first pair of wading boots. They remain ultra-lightweight in the water. I've heard some boots stretch when wet... There's no stretch in the water. I've used these boots a few times and the work great for the money. (Not everyone's got hundreds of dollars for a pair of Wading boots, right?) The first time I wore these I was slipping and sliding all over the place (in a slimey area). I have no frame of reference... I can't tell you if these boots or all boots would slip in that situation, because I have no comparison boot. However, I have decided to go ahead and put studs in the sole for a little better traction. Interesting observation: I order these boots a size up from my normal foot size and with Caddis waders this boot was huge on my foot.... too big. With Redington waders the upsize fits perfectly. I would definitely recommend this boot to any entry level angler (with the optional studs).

UPDATE: I fish quite a bit so these boots have a lot of hours on them already. 2-1/2 months in and the right boot coming apart at the seams... Backcountry was very accommodating with the return and upgrade to the Simms G3 Guide Boot. I'm so impressed with Backcountry customer service. You know how the saying goes: you get what you pay for.

Bought these boots as a backup and they fit nice. I would go with a size up from your normal shoe size.
