Why We Like The Avalon Softshell Bib Pant

For accessing the backcountry in the easy-going spring season, we recommend the Avalon Softshell Bib Pants for their ultra motion-friendly feel. Unlike crunchy hardshell pants, these pants move and breathe with us just like our favorite activewear pants, yet the DryRide membrane still seals out moisture as we slash through slushy corn.

Avalon Bib

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love the way these fit... but they do not keep water out. After an hour on the mountain the bibs are soaked through the knees and the butt area... Definitely would not recommend these unless you Ski Only and don't spend any time actually on the snow. I have had them for one season and they are soaking wet by the end of the day. Snow/Ice ends up sticking to the back pockets so you have to thaw them out completely before you use them again. Would buy these again if the water proofing was better.

Rating is all about sizing/fit

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

My GF is 5'2" and 115 lbs The XS was a little long in the leg, but tight in the thigh, the top was fairly tight that layering would go over instead of putting the base layer on first The Small was very long in the, her foot was not visible with the bibs on. The thigh had the same cut, but was at least roomy enough to get a base layer on underneath them. Returned both sizes due to the fit.

Defective?

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 5’6, 140 pounds- pretty consistently a size medium. I’m a pretty thin person. I could hardly get these over my thighs— Soo weirdly tight. I think they were made defectively because it was just the weirdest fitting article of clothing I’ve ever tried on. My friend owns these exact bibs in a size small, and they fit me better than these sized medium ones. I’m very confused and bummed!

Long inseam

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought these for my wife and she loves them. They're much softer and comfortable compared to hardshell and they have interior fleece lining and also stretch. She also likes the tailored fit. The best part was the inseam was long enough to fit! She is 5'9" & 135lbs - I ordered size medium.

Too tight

Familiarity:

Everyone was right, they are weirdly way too tight around the thighs. Will be returning.

Great except too tight in the thighs.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I already had two other pairs of these bib overalls in size medium before I purchased these in size XL. I purchased these in size XL because, although I am a size medium, the medium overalls were too tight (mainly in the quads & hammies), which restricted my movement. I've snowboarded in these overalls as well as worked around the ranch in them in below freezing weather. Squatting is easier in the XL size, but I wish I had more room for movement and for the pockets. These overalls have great vertically elongated pockets, which in theory would equate to a larger amount of storage space, but since the thighs are too tight, the pockets don't have room to stretch horizontally to create room for objects or your hands. I can barely get a hand in my pocket if I have gloves on. I don't have very large or muscular thighs, so make sure you size up if you do.

Super cute, comfy fit!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 5'6" almost 130lbs. Average build, more legs, pretty slim with some curves. I am always between a small and medium. I went with a medium, but wish I would've went for a small (which is no longer available sadly :( ). The crotch is a baggy, and they are long (even with my ski boots). Aside from losing the gamble on sizing these are great. I run cold so I will definitely wear thermals on colder days. I do love that I can still fit layers underneath the slim fit look. The quality and features are rad af, and I cant wait to rip into the slopes with these!

New favorite for touring & resort

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love a great soft shell & love these bibs. They are definitely my go to this season for both split board touring & snowboarding in the resort. It?s been cold, single to teen digit touring mornings & colder resort days keeping a perfect temperature with appropriate first layering. These are my go to right now, flattering, comfortable, easy in & out, love the deep pant pockets & chest pocket. My 2nd pair of burton bibs & I will buy more!
