Embrace the coldest alpine conditions.
Designed to trap warmth during high-altitude missions where frigid temperatures are the norm, the BLACKYAK Men's Thermic Jacket retains precious body heat with its 750-fill down insulation. Seeing it's loftier than cheaper down and synthetic fills, the 750-fill down insulation is extremely warm without adding much in the way of excess bulk or weight, making it ideal for alpine activities where saving weight is crucial. Also, it's highly compressible, stowing inside the interior zip pocket for a compact carrying solution on the mountain.
Lightweight Cordura ripstop fabric provides a robust alternative to many of the polyester fabrics you'll find on the competition's insulated jackets, resisting abrasion when you're layering it under a waterproof hardshell. It's supplemented with nylon stretch panels for unrestricted range of motion that's ideal for making tricky moves along ridgeline scrambles. Another key feature with the Thermic is the helmet-compatible hood, which is elasticized for a snug fit, complete with a flexible peak that maintains its shape in heavy winds.

- Q & A
Warm and flexible
The Black Yak Thermie jacket actually manages to stand out from a crowded field of high-quality, lightweight down jackets from basically every outdoor brand. I always struggle to find slimmer silhouettes that have long arms and are comfortable for both athletic and casual use. The Black Yak Thermie is slim fitting and has long arms which is great for climbing and anything athletic.
One distinctive feature is the hood which comes up very high over the neck (and mouth when fully zipped), keeping your face toasty when it gets "breezy" out there.
It looks like a simple jacket, but it's much more than that!
