Whether you're a seasoned veteran or just taking your first avy class, you're going to need the proper safety equipment, and the Black Diamond Set Recon BT offers all the necessary components in one package: the Black Diamond Recon BT Beacon, Transfer 3 Shovel, and QuickDraw Tour 280cm Probe.

The Recon BT is a user-friendly avalanche beacon with all the features you need for a quick, efficient search. Its three antenna design reduces signal spikes, or the situation when a beacon mistakenly points to an incorrect location, which drastically improves accuracy during a search when compared to more traditional two antenna beacons, and the 60-meter circular range allows you to pick up the victim's signal from farther away. In the event that you have to search for multiple victims, the mark function enables you to flag each victim as you find them so you can move on to searching for the next victim while your partner starts to probe. Unique from other beacons on the market, the Recon's Bluetooth compatibility lets you connect it to your smartphone so you can easily manage settings and software updates, and it's compatible with iProbe for more extensive search capabilities.

Next up in the package is the Transfer 3 Shovel, featuring a durable aluminum blade for efficient digging, even in hard avalanche debris. The blade has a smooth bottom so you can shave down clean walls when you're digging snowpits, and its shaft is extendable so you can move as much snow as possible while conserving energy. When it's not in use, the shovel seamlessly collapses to fit smoothly into your pack.

The included QuickDraw Tour 280cm probe is made out of durable aluminum with high-visibility 1-centimeter measurement markings for accurate snow-depth readings. It boasts a one-pull deployment design so you can get it out fast in an emergency, and the no-slip grip gives you a secure hold, even when you're wearing gloves.
