When you're not sitting in your bed using the Black Diamond QuickDraw Probe Tour 240 as an extendable light-turner-offer, you should make sure it's in your pack every time you head into the backcountry. Weighing just 10oz, the Tour 240 uses Black Diamond's single-pull QuickDraw assembly system and offers 240cm of depth-marked probing power, perfect for relatively shallow snowpacks, beginners, or folks who don't want to spend their life savings on a super-dooper fancy-pants carbon probe.

Best Probe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the 280cm version of this and it is great! It does build up ice on the outside but other than that is is perfect.

Safety first

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Quickly deployable, lightweight, and simple to use. If you've been using an older probe and are looking for an upgrade, look no further.

Always dependable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Luckily, I have never had to use this probe in an emergency situation. But after classes, training, and practice, I have never had any issues with this. It is well built and easily locks into place every time. With the big loop at the end, you'll never have to fiddle around trying to pull the probe tight, it is always easy to find, even with gloves or mittens on.

Boss Black Diamond

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As with all BD products, great quality, easy to use, strong and lightweight all at the same time. Loving the purple colorway as well, definitely stands out compared to other colors!

Great Weekender probe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Purchased this probe for our first year in the backcountry, and couldn't be happier with it. Quick deployment, solid structure, relatively lightweight, and depth markings, the Quickdraw has everything you need. If you are constantly in the backcountry, spending the extra money for a lighter carbon probe may be a better option, hence the one star deduction. Using it in multiple trainings, this is overall a dependable piece of equipment that will perform when you need it to.

Does the Job

This probe is awesome! It is very lightweight and fits easily in any pack. The QuickDraw system makes it very easy to set up. I would highly recommend this probe to anyone in the market for a new one!
