Solid

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Really nice, lightweight daisy chain. Never felt like my confidence in putting this piece of equipment through max stress was in any way compromised by how lightweight and pliable it is. I ended up ordering a couple extras to just keep in my rack for buddies or any other needs.

Super handy

Great for a personal anchor, Lightweight and easy to use. BD did it again with another simple and durable product.

In case you have not already come across this information, daisy chains are not designed to be personal anchors. There are several other products and techniques that specifically address the demands of personal anchors. Of course climb your own climb but I wanted to at least share this info. https://www.climbing.com/skills/anchors-away/

    BD never disappoints

It does its job and does it super well. Black diamond is a solid brand I enjoy and trust all of their products.

    reliable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i have used these for multiple things and have been extremely reliable. they are just as i expected. what more could i ask.

Good for securing gear- not very strong

Decent for organizing your gear, do not buy with intention to use this as a personal anchoring system, the loops are only rated at like 3kn, if it were to break you would probably only fall a few feet, but it wouldn't be on a dynamic system , and probably break something. Don't risk it.

      Great organization

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I use these bad boys for organizing all my assorted gear for trad and sport climbing. Makes it easy to find everything you need when you're getting ready for a 45 foot sport climb or 300 foot multipitch.

      Great organization

      Awesome Product

Durable, high quality, silent...are just a few words to describe this. This product does what it is supposed to do. What more could you want?

      Color selection would be nice.

      Simple.

The BD Nylon Daisy chain has been with me since I started climbing and does exactly what it should do. I liked that it was a random color because the color wasn't all that important to me. Easy to use and does the job.

      simple solid daisy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

first daisy chain was this nylon BD daisy. they do a good job, they match any color of aider out there, and the 140cm is plenty long. as any daisy it should be respected and not used for anything other then for AID climbing. I use it on every big wall and it does its job.

      simple solid daisy

      Simple, Straightforward

It does the job. I've used BD daisy chains for years, and I have never had an issue with them. I will continue to use them because they are so easy to use, and because I trust the quality. Easy to clip, and pretty colors (yes, quite noteworthy). Hands down essential for climbing- would definitely recommend!

        Bad customer service

They have the "customer notes" in their shipping, yet they never read it, they just don t care. I ordered a specific color for a reason. I am dissapointed.

Hey Javier, I'm sorry for the disappointment. The colors are shipped to us randomly and we ship them randomly. Feel free to email me, I might be able to get you the right color. ccostley@backcountry.com

sorry dude but backcountry.com has THE BEST customer service out there. they make sure I get the best deals shipped to me ASAP. sorry the color wasn't ideal but 3 stars isn't deserved..

Agreed. Give'em a chance to make it right. I've always had a great experience with BC.

          quality

ive had no issues with this daisy chain for almost 3 years now with lots of use in all the seasons. i switched to a metolius chain this summer because its safer a lot quicker and you dont need to use 2 biners shorten it. id watch the video black diamond had to make about this product because of its glitch(if i can call it a glitch) before buying it.

You don't need to use two carabiners to shorten a traditional daisy chain like this. Just clip the carabiner straight to the intermediate loop, not the end.

you need to watch the black diamond vid on this chain. yes you can shorten it with one biner but it is not safe at all.

          Hammock Straps

I love using daisy chains for hammock straps too! Just do be very careful!

Could you expand on why you need to be careful? I'm looking to use them for hammock straps also and would like to know more about how you do it.

I know you probably didn't wait a year, but the problem is the double bar tack in between loops on the daisy is rated much lower than the Nylon itself. Clipping across a bar tack, if it fails, can cause the carabiner to come completely unattached which could be fatal in climbing or painful for hammocks.

            Perfect for aid climbing

Used this in Washington Column in Yosemite and it worked well. This is for aid climbing, you shouldn't use it for anchors, or PAS. If you don't know what you are doing, this can fail.

              Read me!

Great for aid climbing and self anchor if you know how to use it! If this is your first time buying a personal anchor system then I would consider using something else becuase if you use this one the wrong way, It could result in death.

                Nice

Does what it's supposed to do.

If I'm going to buy two for my ascenders,...

If I'm going to buy two for my ascenders, should I get two different lengths to stagger them or just get two of the same size?

That really depends on what kind of setup you plan on using when ascending with your ascenders. The most common way would work best with two different lengths.

I would recommend 2 different lengths almost all the time and they can come in handy for other things and variety always helps.

                  Solid But...

The daisy chain was not intended to be a personal anchor system for cleaning sport anchors. They were intended to be used for aid climbing. It still works for cleaning sport gear but I would instead recommend the PAS from Metolious. The PAS offers more flexibility in length that the daisy doesn't do safely. For easy of cleaning and peace of mind the PAS is more solid.
