Good, But Only Lasted A Couple Years

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought a pair of these two years ago and have used them at least a couple times a week since, sometime less and sometimes for a week straight. There's not a lot to critique about a cloth glove, but I'll say that the half-finger was nice for summer sessions, and the carabiner hole in the velcro straps does exactly what its supposed to. The durability was worse than I expected though, with a hole first appearing after one year, and after two years now I've had to replace them. Unfortunately it was just a the thumb on my brake hand, and with a little more reinforcement they would have probably last a couple more years. My new pair is leather, so if you want something that lasts a little longer, invest little more.

Good, But Only Lasted A Couple Years

Exactly what i needed!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My hands typically get pretty warm, I couldnt use the full finger gloves so these worked out amazing.

Thanks so much for this review, Jesse!

Great Short Life

From just a few uses of belaying and repelling, it seems that these gloves aren't going to last as long as I'd like, will definitely grab a leather pair once these wear out. For the price, though, they are awesome. Pretty easy to pull off your hands even with being knuckle length which is nice

    Great Gloves

Depends on what you are wanting to use them for, for sure, but I love them, I use them for gym leading with my brother and we no longer have to worry about our hands getting raw from belaying, we can just focus on the climb.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Used for wet rappels in Zion NP, held a lot of water. In fact, they didnt dry out until well into the next day, off-route in the desert. Blistered a finger first rap, not really a fault of the product just no coverage with a fingerless glove.

Not recommended if there is any chance of getting wet. Inexpensive option. Seemed to run large. I went with an extra large as I usually blow out the seams on Lrg size gloves.

      All around good buy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I mean they are belay gloves...they do what they need to. I have used them TONS! i will say after tons of use they are wearing down a bit. I mean i didnt expect them to last forever. But would of liked more than 4 months(i climb 2 or 3 times a week)

Good for gym, not for outside

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used these gloves for a while, and my initial impression was that they were amazing! I loved how they felt on my hands, how they gave me such great handling of the rope, and the price point was fantastic.
On my last climbing trip outside, I got AWFUL rope burn on all of my fingers after managing a lower with a prusik while on top belay. It was something that should not have happened, and if I had gloves that covered my full fingers then I'm sure it would have been fine. I was especially upset because the next pitch was the crux, and I was out for the count because my fingers were all blistered.

So basically, if you want gloves that keep your hands clean while dealing with a belay at the gym, these are great. If you want some serious gloves that can protect your fingers while doing some multipitch belaying, I'd recommend something with full fingers.

Thanks for the review Alyssa, sorry to hear you had such a bad experience though! I've never been a fan of half-finger gloves, they just don't offer the protection you need from all the friction. Glad to hear you were using the right technique for lowering from a top-belay though; stay safe out there!

Best Gym glove in the world!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Durable, great grip, and machine washable!

      My Gym glove

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Its my favorite glove to be used on Gym and Cross Fit sections. The ñew sued palm fabric is better than the leather previous model. The grip is awesome.

      Great Fit, Questionable Materials

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only used this glove once. I took it out for a 3 pitch climb on a cool October day. The fit is great and they are really comfortable. The fabric on the palm does indeed offer a good grip while padding for comfort. The only concern I have is that they feel cheaply made. Time will tell if they will hold up to climbing abuse, but for the price they cannot be beaten.

Really comfy and great for rappel

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I initially got these in a size Medium but they were too big so had to downsize to Small. I have the orange color which is a bit brighter in person I think, but not overbearing. I got these for rappelling because I've finally had enough of rope burn (and filthy hands since my rope gets dirty fast) and I wanted some half fingered gloves. Most of my friends just buy beater gloves and cut the fingers but I like how these have the tabs to pull them off and they are padded specifically for rope work and even climbing cracks if I want to (not that I will though, I don't like using gloves in a crack) so the extra money is worth it to me because these will last longer than a cheaper glove for what I plan to put them through! So far they have done great in about a dozen canyons or so! And if my palms are taking a beating then putting them on helps with my stemming for sure!

Goat sticker in the picture is for scale :)

Really comfy and great for rappel

      Mmm Mmm Good!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great fit and I am really thankful for the pull tabs to get them off your fingers or they would be stuck. Good quality gloves!

Fits like a really great glove!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Gave these as a gift to my climbing partner, here's what she has to say,

"These feel amazing on. It's a little too cold to try them out for climbing now but I absolutely love how they fit. They are snug but not restricting, and I love the small padding on the back of the hand. I have really long skinny hands and the S fits great. I can't wait to put these through some spring/fall climbing."

      For winter climbing

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these to keep my hands warm during winter climbs. I don't like to hand jam with them on because it means I'm suddenly putting a piece of gear between me and the rock while holding on to the inside of a glove that isn't comfortable to wear when tight enough to not slip a little bit. I ended up trying three sizes before I settled on the medium. The fingers are a bit tight on the smaller sizes even though the length measurements in the specs matched up for me.

I also wear them when rappelling and belaying. These are standard in my crag bag right next to the harness, shoes, rope, and helmet.

      Great gloves

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave them as a gift and he loves them!

      Good glove

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While these start out a little stiff, they work and feel great after a few uses. I use these most for belaying, but I'll sometimes use them at the gym to practice crack climbs (well, I try but mostly fail). These would be great for rappelling as well.

Great fit at an excellent price point

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just bought these and used them at the gym once - going to be rappelling and climbing in Zion with them in March so it will put the durability to the test.

True to size and very affordable.

      Good for scrambling

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm a peakbagger and need hand protection when climbing class 2 and 3 terrain. This glove does a good job in protecting the knuckles and in general feels snug. What I don't like are the flaps extending past the half-finger mark. I specifically use half-finger gloves because I need the tips of my fingers free to reach up the rock and get a good grip. Since the flaps keep getting in the way, I might end up just snipping them off. The material is also not very breatheable: after many hours of wear in demanding conditions, the glove feels constricting, especially when sweat and dirt are involved. Upon dirtying, the leather material on the palm looks like it'll never clean up, but it comes out like new after every washing. I try not to abuse my gear; I've been careful with these BD Crags thus far, yet I'm constantly under the impression that all it takes is just one sharp rock to slice right through them. I'll be surprised if they last me one year.

      Great Fit, Great Price

I love that these gloves come in plenty of different sizes. For anyone wondering what size will fit them best, these gloves match up very well with the size chart.
