Black DiamondContact Clip Crampon

These crampons are made for walking ... across glaciers and snow fields.

Step into the stainless steel Black Diamond Contact Clip Crampon, and take a walk on the icy side without fear of slipping up. Flexible toe straps accommodate most footwear, while a low-profile design offers optimal contact with more progressive boot designs.

Very lightweight for steel crampons, easy to adjust, no rust, it's true.
But the most important thing for me: NO SNOW BALLING!!!
You feel safe all the time...

will these fit a size 47.5 Asolo Pumori...

will these fit a size 47.5 Asolo Pumori mountaineering boot? and is the clip a better choice than the all strap BD?

and are these the right choice for say the Ptarmigan Traverse in the North Cascades?

It will NOT fit a 45.5 La Sportiva spantik, but it WILL fit a 45.5 La Sportiva Trango. I would have to assume it will not fit.

Solid lightweight crampon

These crampons are nice and light and very adjustable. More adjustable than some other brands (in length). They aren't too heavy and are pretty durable. Great for low angle snow and ice, glacier travel, or an approach where you want a little extra margin of safety. They pack up nicely when your done so they stay out of the way in your pack.

Does BD offer a replacement strap system?(like the one on the contact staps) It looks as if you can atatch one via the heel piece?
I want to have a pair of semi-autos and staps for different boots

Hey Hayden,

You can find just about every spare part for any BD piece of gear on their website under "climb spare parts"

Great place for those bent sections of poles!

Trying to decide on a pair of SEMI-AUTOMATIC crampons... Will problably be my only pair for a while so they need to be very versiale. No ice climbing..... Just mountains like timpanogus, Lone peak, The phieferhorn, and possibly the grand teton?

Should I go for 10-points or 12-points?

Will these fit Lasportiva trangos aswell as la sportiva Glaciers?

What about the Black Diamond Serac crampon?

Thay will fit "Lasportiva trangos" aswell as "La sportiva Glaciers"...I like more the "Black Diamond Serac". 12-points make me feel more safe.
The "Lasportiva trangos" r more hard and so make me feel more safe on my feets

The BD Saberetooth is my goto crampon. Great for Glacier travel and still really solid if you have to cross rocky sections. They will ice climb very well also.
The clip will fit bot of your La sportivas just fine.
Have fun

Will these work with a 316mm sole length...

Will these work with a 316mm sole length Alpine ski boot, as well as with standard hiking boots?

Should be no problem. 316mm is about a mondo 26-28 and i have used these with a BD Method 29.

Pretty good

I've had these out on one trip up Mt Washington. They didn't get a rigorous test but performed well. The rear bail's fit on a pair of La Sportiva Buruntses was a bit odd but they stayed on fine. The strap is a bit long. I'll need to get an o-ring or something to keep it out of the way. I chose these because they are the lightweight all-steel option.

would it be a good crampon for the la sportiva glacier boot?

    Hi Hayden,
Yes Sir! These are fine general mountaineering crampons, and will mate well with the La Sportiva Glacier Boots. Good Luck.

I used them at MonT blanc and they are really something.

The weight of these is 808 g for the pair, not a single crampon as per the description.
