Black Diamond Camalot X4 Offset Package

The missing link in your trad rack.

The Camalot X4 Offset protects trad climbers in places where normal cams and stoppers can't, and Black Diamond's Package gives you every size for a full arsenal. Each side of the cam has a different sized lobe that helps you place it in oddly shaped cracks in order to give you more placement options so you stay safer while you climb. The bigger sizes have the same beloved double-axle design that BD's C4 series has, which provides a huge expansion range and allows the cam to double as a stopper when placed passively. The smaller sizes follow BD's brand new design where both axles are stacked onto one another in order to give you the same benefits as the double axle, only this design suits smaller cams better so you can place them in tiny pin scars with confidence.

The Camalot X4 Offset also features springs within the lobes that keep the head sleek, narrow, and easy to place in a variety of different sized cracks. Black Diamond armored the single stem with aluminum beads that add durability and strength when you set it in awkward horizontal placements. Both the symmetric swage and the hot-forged trigger bar offer an ergonomic control when you clean your gear, and each cam is color-coded with a complementary Dyneema sling so they can stand out among all your other pieces on your rack.

Great for pin scars

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought the standard X4 package a year ago and use them on a trip to Washington last August. I was skeptical about buying offsets and thought that I would not need them. My partner an I went to Idex to do some AID climbing and I started to use my buddies offsets more then my standard X4. I like how they cam evenly in the cracks, this help them from not walking as much. Even took a 20 foot whipper on .2/.3 and she held me fine. After I got home I went to BC and bought a set. They are great to have on your rack.

A whole new world

I can't count the number of times I've been run out and wishing I had a set of offsets. I'll be using these extensively in Zion National Park, the City of Rocks, the Lost River Range, and the Tetons.

    Pin Scars, Flares, SCARES!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm not sure I CAN'T find a place for these to fit in most granite classic routes. Where other pro won't go, these go - and feel bombproof.

I've personally taken a decent (15 ft) whipper unto the yellow red - and it held like a champ - and didn't get destroyed in the process. The armored cable, coupled with the time and tested BD aluminum cam's - these things make me happy when i should really be sad.

Pin scar approved - whipper tested.
