Create your own alpenglow.
The Big Agnes Tumble 1 MtnGLO Tent utilizes LED lighting to make camping more comfortable and convenient than ever before. Instead of haphazardly dangling your headlamp from the top of your tent, patent-pending mtnGlo tent light technology evenly illuminates the interior so you you can go over maps, read your book, or organize your gear for an early departure without being blinded by one harsh source of light. Powered by any USB source or three AAA batteries, the lights are operated by a simple push button controller to turn them on, off, or to a mellow 50% setting. The LED light strand is integrated into the tent seams and is flexible and durable enough to endure repeated pitching and stuffing.
Big Agnes built the Tumble 1 mtnGlo Tent's body out of sturdy ripstop material and the fly and floor out of fully-taped, PU-coated fabric for reliable, long-lasting protection against the elements. Large mesh panels offer sufficient ventilation in summer's warmer weather, while the single door, single vestibule, steep wall construction and cross-over pole design improve the interior living space. Multiple mesh and media pockets round out this tent's creature comforts to make you feel right at home out in the backcountry.

Light(ish), robust and very, very roomy!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I purchased this as I've been looking for a one man tent with a side entry for sometime - and I am moving away from my obsession for being lightweight! I did once own a Big Agnes Fly Creek UL1, but found that to be a bit constrictive and I wanted a side entrance and more durable feeling materials. I also looked at the Copper Spur UL1, but again the size and the apparent flimsiness of the materials was not to my liking. This tent may weigh 1.7kg (on my scales with 6 pegs), not particularly lightweight for a one man tent, but I consider it a minimal weight gain for the space and the durability of the materials.
So, to the Tumble 1 - the space inside is fantastic. I am 6 foot 2 inches and broad, and had plenty of room. I was even able to bring my pack (Sierra Designs Flex Capacitor - large size) inside and have it behind my head (party used as a pillow). Only my boots and walking pole remained in he vestibule overnight. I could sit up, get changed etc. with no fear of pressing the inner tent against the flysheet. There are also a plethora (6) of inside pockets for placing small items such as phone, glasses, torch, snacks etc. I don't think I've ever been able to feel so organised in a tent. The inner tent is a mixture of sheer nylon and mesh and provides good ventilation - but the nylon goes high enough to cut direct breeze onto you when you are sleeping. This is labelled as a three season tent, but in sheltered conditions I'd be happy to use this in winter. We had temperatures down to -2c and some moderate winds when I used this and I felt as secure as comfortable as I have in a designated four season tent. The flysheet is robust and allows for a vestibule that was big enough for me to (carefully) cook under using my pocket rocket stove whilst I sat in the inner tent during a short downpour. It seems nicely thick and I had no issues with water ingress or with splash back under the fly. The Mountain-glow feature was a real bonus - the light spread was perfectly adequate to do everything by and I especially liked the fact that I could leave my tent lit up whilst I ventured out as it made finding my tent and getting back in much easier than returning to a dark tent. There are two light level settings. As mentioned earlier, whilst not the lightest of one person tents, I believe that the extra weight (approx 660g over the Copper Spur UL1 for example) is well worth it for the extra space, tougher materials and increased hydro-static head. Set up is a breeze and took me under 2 mins first time - without looking at any instructions. The tent packs down nice a small and fit easily inside my pack. Thoroughly recommended.
