Soft and Warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I've smashed this sweater into a suitcase and worn it to work as a business casual piece, I've hauled around town in it as a casual layer and it's also been crammed into a carry-on bag and thrown on and off to keep warm on plane rides (This sweater is deceptively warm... it's full of little holes in the pattern, but surprisingly toasty). Despite my absolutely indelicate treatment of this thing, it's held up really well!

I've washed it twice so far and it doesn't show at all. I wash it in cold water on the delicate cycle (the only delicate treatment that ANYthing in my wardrobe gets) and lay it on top of the rack to dry and it looks brand new!

It definitely runs a little on the roomy side: I usually wear a large in just about everything and this fits in a medium, although I'd love it if the sleeves were about 2 inches longer. I looooove the pockets. I wish every article of clothing I owned had pockets. The fit is a little boxy and I wouldn't hate a little more shaping, but I think that's kind of the intention with their "relaxed fit" - for it to be more of a boyfriend fit.

A word about the knit... it's VERY fuzzy. You feel like you're wearing a soft bunny. It doesn't shed at all which is awesome, but the pics in the description don't show how very fluffy it is. I included a close-up so you can see!

The Dawlish Sweater is an amazing lifestyle-wear piece by Bellfield. Bellfield brands themselves as British Heritage Fashion with a natural looking logo including, what else, but a bison. This sweater is a perfect representation of what the company does best: the perfect casual-cozy-chique fall fashion. With all of the luxury and style you would expect from a big name designer and all of the comfort and quality you would expect from your outdoor-wear, you won't be disappointed by Bellfield looks.

This sweater wears nicely layered over just about anything. Jeans, leggings and boots, cotton dresses... the list goes on. I have paired this sweater with all of the above and really like its casual, carefree, blocky yet feminine vibe. The Dawlish sweater is probably the softest, fuzziest sweater I've ever own and deceptively NOT itchy.

I wouldn't call the Dawlish an incredibly "warm" fall or winter layer as the diamond knit pattern that makes it so unique allows quite a bit of air through. The positive part about that is that it makes the sweater light enough for day-wear and layering. The color is a really soft blushy rose that isn't too vibrant for even a bit of a tomboy like me. Since it really is a go anywhere sweater, I like to wear it to school, to work, to a movie or dinner with friends, or around the Friday night bonfire.

The fit runs a little large, especially in the shoulders. If you don't like a really flowy, shruggy look, I would size down. It is supposed to be a longer sweater, so it does come down below the hips, which I really like. I am a little over 5'9'' and about 140lbs. The medium fit me really well, but like I said, I like my fall sweaters a bit over-sized.

I have only washed this sweater once but I would recommend washing it as little as possible to maintain the soft feel and shaggy look. When you do wash it, try hand-washing or a very delicate cycle. This is a really nice sweater and washing didn't hurt it, but it will definitely stay nicer long with fewer washes.

Goes with everything!

This sweater seriously goes with everything. I sided with the neutral color and have it in the cream, that way I can always wear it! The style is very comfortable and relaxed while staying chic (my favorite.) And it might be the softest material you have ever felt.

It can be worn casually or taken along as a warm fall layer. I hesitate a little to wear this during a formal occasion since the fabric look is meant to be more messy.

This piece runs large, while it is supposed to be a baggier fit, I would recommend sizing down from what you usually wear because even the shoulder area runs large.

For washing, this piece is delicate! I recommend washing on a low spin setting and laying flat to dry to help maintain the piece.

Again, Bellfield has done it. Their style is everything I seek in clothes, a tasteful, casual look that can be worn in various ways while remaining comfortable!

I got this sweater in the mail the other day and was so excited. The only problem I had was that my boyfriend thought I looked homeless. I disagreed.

Color:

I hate pink but I love this color. It's a neutral pink, if there is one. It would go over any color shirt underneath. Normally I would have chosen the cream color but I decided to be brave.

Material:

At first sight, I thought it would be itchy, but it's amazingly soft. It looks frayed (hence the homeless comment) but that's how it's supposed to look. Once I put it on, I wanted to lay down and take a nap.

Perfect for:

A night out with the girls! I brought as an extra layer, even though it's still 80 degrees out, because I get gold easily. No sooner did I take this out of my car and my friend asked if she could borrow it; she was cold. I snapped a candid while we were waiting for my other friend to park. Even over a plain gray t-shirt, it looked good!

Sizing:

I am about 5'2", 130 lbs. My friend (pictured) is about 5'4" 125 lbs. I have a SMALL. It's a little longer on me, but fits her perfectly. It drapes nicely over any shape body. I am thicker in the thighs than she is (I would actually suggest an XS for her) and it's super cozy looking. Arms are not tight at all.

The only con:

The see through holes in the stitching. It's supposed to be like that but if it were winter, I'd want a long sleeve underneath to keep the air out. I haven't tried it yet in the cold, but I will!
