Basin and Range Trailside Fleece Jacket - Women's

Warmth from the Wasatch.

A solid day in Utah's Wasatch Range can consist of an early morning hike followed by an afternoon on the river, and then an evening spent sipping some tasty drinks in town. It's days like these that inspired the Basin and Range Women's Trailside Fleece. Using Utah's mountains as the R&D site for its designs, all Basin and Range products are built for the unique dynamic of mountain playing and city living that only the Wasatch can provide. Its hi-loft fleece fabric offers exceptional warmth when you need to stay toasty as you take a quick trailside break to take in the sprawling mountain views, while the jacket's two zippered hand pockets are an ideal spot to keep your paws cozy as you take a walk down Park City's historic main street.

Good fit, strong collar, soft

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this in the whitish-gray color and it's fantastic. I was tired of my current fleeces and wanted something different. The collar on this fleece is perfect and very high (love it). It stays standing, even after washing. It also hasn't shed on me. It has enough shape to it that it is flattering and not boxy, but it is also roomy and easy to layer. I'll be buying other colors.

True to size, versatile

Flattering for a feminine, athletic figure and fits broad shoulders very well, but I wish it were a little longer in length. Women with a longer torso may find it exposes the lower back when active. I bought this to wear under my snowboarding jacket and if it weren't for the powder skirt, I'd have had cold and snow up my back. Other than that, the material is soft and made to last, looks cute, and is versatile as a layering fleece or outerwear.

Great Fleece

I got this gift for my mother who is tall (5'10) and has longer arms. The size Large fit her perfectly and she loved the soft feel of this fleece. Her only complaint was that it was so warm that she couldn't wear it all the time. I think for most people that is a good problem to have.

Soft, comfortable, warm

My wife says: "The material on this fleece jacket is really soft to the touch. Great for wearing around town while running errands, and on cold ski days, an extra warm layer to throw under an outer shell. Make sure it's a cold day, though, cause you might sweat. Also, I seem to get bonus hugs from my daughter, who comments on how cozy my jacket is.. :) "

So soft and cozy

Great fleece jacket - so cozy. The collar stands a bit higher than typical fleece jackets, which elevates the otherwise casual look.

Bought this fleece to replace my Patagonia Better Sweater jacket, which was boxy and not flattering on me. Love this fleece! Not too fitted but also not a formless box. Warm and comfy. The fabric isn't for everyone as it has a nap, but I don't find that it sheds like an old TNF fleece jacket I had did. Machine washed and dried like a champ. I'm short but have broad shoulders and rib cage for my size. 4'11, 33-28-38, size S is great and has room for light layering.

    SO soft

I bought this for my sister. She is a sucker for really plush, soft fleeces. After feeling how soft this one is I just knew she would love it.

I was warm and toasty in this fleece while down at Bryce Canyon. With the wind whipping and the snow flying, it didn't matter I was warm and toasty.

I gave this to my mother for Christmas and its an awesome jacket. The fit was perfect and I was stoked to see that. Its true to size, seeing how she always wears a Large and this fit the same as a few other jackets she owns. I was quite impressed with the material and softness of the jacket. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

    Pleasantly surprised.

This was a gift for my girlfriend's mom, who is always cold. I thought this would be a nice, cozy sweater for her. She loves it. She says it feels like she's wearing a blanket around all day. I ordered the light grey, which is a little less white and more grey in person than it appears in the photo.

    Wanted to Love

This is an awesome fleece and it feels like I am basically wrapped in a cozy blanket whenever I wear it which is exactly why I bought it! However the fit of this jacket is just not right for me. The cut of the waist on this fleece is not flattering to my body, and the fleece lined pockets only add to the poor fit. I could probably size down to an XS and get a more flattering fit, however the main use of this fleece for me is for layering so I am happy to compromise. Other than the fit I am very happy with the fleece, it is incredibly soft and cozy.
Other reviews have stated they have difficulty with the material getting stuck in the zippers, but I haven't had any issues. The zippers are a little bit on the sticky side, but nothing that causes too much of a hassle.

    Premium quality and style.

Bought this as a gift for my mom's birthday. She absolutely loved the warmth, fuzzy comfort, and stylish appeal of this fleece, all at a fraction of the price of leading competitors! Check this out if you're shopping for a comparable fleece from the big-name brands.

    Love, except

Fits great (I'm short and curvy), very cozy and soft. Only bummer is that double fuzzy pockets adds thickness in the tummy area, not ideal.

Super cute but not quite a perfect fit!

I really really want to love this fleece, but alas it's just not a perfect fit for my body type. I'll still wear it, but I'm not smitten.

First, the reasons it's not perfect for me:

I'm pretty tall (5'9") and have an athletic build... long torso, lanky arms, built kinda like a dude save for a 36DD chest. Because of this, generally speaking it's hard for me to find a good fit in jackets! A medium would probably fit well in most items, but because of the length and room needed in the chest, I usually go with a large so I don't end up with elbow-length sleeves and pancake-boobs. The Trailside fleece fits GREAT through the chest while still maintaining a nice tailored look; however, I'd say that for me it's probably about two inches short in both the arms and the body length, so it just looks a bit awkward.

The other feature that I'm not in love with is the zipper. The fabric behind the zipper has gotten stuck in the zipper probably about 50% of the times I've zipped it up. If you're really careful about zipping it up, it's not a problem, but I don't like having something I actively need to think about when zipping.

    That said... the GOOD:

The fuscia color is SO pretty. It's a vibrant rich color with more depth than you can see in the photos on the site. Really really nice and I love it.

It's super soft. It feels like you're wearing a bunny, but it doesn't shed any fleece, which is awesome.

The collar comes up super high, like right under the chin. I love that because it makes it nice and toasty and great for layering. And speaking of layering, it's very warm but not bulky, so it makes for a good piece to wear under a shell. The handwarmer pockets zip closed (yay!) but don't add much volume so it doesn't poof out at the pockets.

All in all, I'd say it would be a really nice fleece for someone with a shorter frame (if you don't mind babysitting the zipper a bit)... the tailoring is very feminine (awesome seaming through the body) but also functional and the color is beautiful!

    Beautiful Color and Super Soft!
