Good looking Jacket. Not super durable.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Got the jacket, it looks great and worked well for a little while. Packs down well and lightweight but it's not too durable and kinda flimsy compared to other rain shells I've owned. It works ok only in a drizzle but seems like water is soaking through in moderate to heavy rains or during longer periods of rain.

Great product, great price

I've received a number of compliments on this jacket (I got the Olive color). It's more of a trim/athletic fit compared to the boxy fit of the Patagonia rain jacket I used to wear, and, true to it's nature, it holds up well in wet weather. Love it!

Impressive quality, not a universal fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

I love the design, material and quality of the Basin and Range Spiro Rain Jacket - but couldn't find an option that fit my body type. I will typically switch between a medium or large. However, the medium was too tight in my waist and the large was too long and loose in my sleeves - so I returned both. I think this was designed for a traditional slender/athletic person. I'm 5'9" and 180-185 pounds, I'm fit(ish) but got that dad bod. Haha.

not impressed

recently ordered the camo version, liked the look of it. read some reviews and it sounded great for the price. once I got it though it became quickly apparent that it's cheaply constructed. sending it back and sticking with Patagonia. just my two cents....

light!

This was way lighter than I was expecting! I sized up to accommodate layering. We've had a wet spring here, so have gotten to put it to the test. So far, pretty happy with it. Me, and my gear have stayed dry. I get most jackets in a large, and wear most t-shirts or button ups in a medium.

Impressive design & construction

I'm 5'10" 170 and the medium was spot on.
The jacket body does taper and is a bit on the snug side at the bottom but is not restrictive.

Works well during showers but does get a bit water logged during heavy rain/downpours. It is on the lighter side so that is not a huge surprise.

Overall great lightweight all around raincoat.

AWESOMENESS!

Absolutely 100% high quality and well designed product. I will be investing more into this company and their product.

Unanswered Question

Is there any chance that the jacket will be available in camo, size large again? Really keen to pull the trigger on that.

The Spiro Jacket is super lightweight and it is of high quality! It also fits really well and looks great. Very Stylish!

Great Jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: M

I gave this jacket as a gift and the recipient really likes it. He's worn it a few times and says it is comfortable and easy to move in. He also likes the design. I had to return the L for a M, though the recipient usually wears a L.

I'm only doing 4 stars, because it hasn't been used in long down pours. But, it sheds rain really well, in average rain falls. I got this for my husband. He's rather picky, so I was very happy that he really liked this jacket. He likes the fit and the color scheme. He's also been comfortable using it while hiking and fishing. So, it's been a winner.

He is 5'10 and like, a 40 inch chest. The medium is a good fit. My photos here are action photos, so the jacket looks a little scrunchy in these photos, but it really is a good fit.

Nice.

Great rain jacket

Got this jacket for light showers while fishing. Got caught in a storm while fishing that turned out to be much heavier rain than I thought, this jacket kept my completely dry. I strongly suggest grabbing one of these jackets.

Solid piece of kit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Xxl

Purchased this jacket for a lightweight pack option for rifle matches. Loved the fit. I have wider shoulders and usually have difficult time with rain jackets. Did an exceptional job in a 4 hour downpour. Held up well to diving/moving around in elements. Only minor issue was hood size. Feel it is a tad too big, but not a deal breaker. Performed well above its price point. Fit nice in pack.

Ok Rain jacket

its a pretty good jacket. there this nothing fancy about and does what it says. I took it touring and it was light weight but still kept me warm with the chilly wind. I wish it had mesh pit zips rather then just open holes and also wish it had dual pull cords on the bottom of the jacket to make it less so bell shaped

Not bad for the price

I'm not overly impressed with the jacket but it does not disappoint either. It's adequate and honestly I like the camo print. Here are my two gripes. 1: Its got a left zipper....and 2: I wish it had the cinch strings on both sides of the jacket instead of just the left. When you cinch is the jacket then pulls towards that side a little bit. Both not deal breakers but again not perfect. I got this to bike in the rain and it will handle that with no problems.

Great rain jacket

A rain specific jacket is a piece that is likely not fully appreciated until you have it. I have multiple Goretex ski shells that have doubled as rain jackets, however, now that I have one a rain specific jacket I will never go back. This jacket is disarmingly lightweight, perfect for protection from the weather in cool to warmer weather. The fit is true to size and the pocket lining is a nice touch to create a soft and inviting feel for your hands. I ordered the camo print which I really like given it is more of a fashion camo as opposed to something like a mossy oak or real tree you would get at Cabelas and use for hiding from animals. I recommend this jacket

How does this compare to Marmot PreCip and Patagonia Torrentshell in terms of waterproofness?

Best Answer

Hi Sergei,

It is going to pair up well with both. It is going to be more waterproof but less breathable. This fit is going to be the biggest difference. This will fit longer then the other two.

Can you please tell me how much the spiro jacket weighs in ounces? Please, and thank you!

Hey Antone,

The large Spiro jacket weighs approximately 15.7 oz.
