Love this Coat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

Winter in Northern Utah can be incredibly frigid, but this coat has been my new best friend. The down is really lightweight, the nylon canvas outer fabric is tough, the DWR coating is surprisingly effective, and the interior is super soft (and has a woodgrain print). I bought the black and thus far this has stood up to rain, snow, ice and dog toenails.
Highly recommend it.

Here at Backcountry there are certain products that employees can check out and use for free. Online I honestly didn't think this jacket looked great but upon seeing it in person I had to try it out!
It's actually really stylish and the material is much better than what I once suspected. It really warm and a solid versatile choice for causal winter wear or camping! The DWR combined with nylon actually makes this very water repellent. I've stayed completely dry in winter rain/sleet.

When I checked it out, I also let my buddy use it for a day or so and he liked it so much he ended up buying the black and grey! I put our photo below.

Cool but very Warm

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I got this for my son who is going to college in the upper midwest, where winter is really winter. He's very happy with the jacket -- great cushy down feel, really warm, and looks great (he's very style conscious). THe is 6 feet and 195, the XL was big enough to satisfy his preference for loose-fitting stuff, especially since the cut through the body is pretty boxy.

Nailed it.

I love this piece. From the texture of the fabric, to the dwr treatment, fit, warmth and even responsibly sourced down! Looks great, awesome colors, and gets the job done.

If you're looking for a jacket to keep you warm that has a bit more room then this is what you're looking for. My new go-to.

I really like this jacket. It is very warm, and comfortable as a stand alone or with layers underneath. I took this on a winter excursion to South America and it helped me stay warm in the wind and humidity of Southern Chile. The jacket is think, but well cut, so you don't look like a marshmallow. The face fabric is very durable and resistant to weather with the DWR treatment. I liked the knit and stretchy under cuffs that helped to seal in warmth around my wrists. This jacket is great around town, but is rugged enough for some cold weather camping and outdoor work. Solid piece from Basin and Range.
