Stay stoked.

The Basin and Range Women's Empire Primaloft Insulated Pants give you everything you need to get out and get after it on the coldest powder days. Wife loves these

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Got these for wife who is always on the cold side while skiing. She said these are warm and really comfortable. Nice fabric. Insulation and weatherproofing is excellent. She normally wears medium, but got large for a looser fit. Waist has adjustable "belts" on either side secured with velcro

love love love these

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

bought these to replace another pair of insulated pants. they are great, comfortable, fit well, plenty long to go over my boots and warm. True to size.

Really nice, but ordered wrong size

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

Nice look and feel over all. Returning because I should have gotten the medium. The small technically fit, but was too tight across the thighs for any layers underneath.

Pretty Good for the Price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I like these pants I have yet to actually use them however, so I can't say how waterproof or warm they are. My first impression is that they are a tad bit tight in the thigh region and the waist is a bit big. However the tightness in the thigh is minimal and it does not limit my movement so thats good. Their also a tad long. Overall I'm satisfied with this product for price.
*Review Update- They are much more waterproof than I thought they would be. The thighs lost their tightness after a couple of times wearing it and I figured out that the waist is adjustable. Overall I am pleasantly suprised so I'm changing my four star review to a five star.

Great in all conditions

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 16

I have skied my whole life and these are by far the most comfortable ski pants I've owned in many years. They are warm in the coldest conditions with a thin pair on long underwear. The soft lining is wonderful and not too hot in spring conditions. I just finished a 20 day ski season with these pants with many powder days. I like having a Velcro waits adjustment to tighten down when I get on the slopes but the only reason I'm giving these a four star is that the adjustment is not enough or the elastic wore out too fast. I need to attach additional Velcro to the waist for next season.

Warm and durable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Small

Love the warmth of the pants. Have used them hiking and skiing. I have used them in the extreme cold, wind and have always stayed warm and dry. On warmer ski days I don't overheat. They do run on the bigger size and are long in length. I'm 5'5" size 2 and I bought a size small and wish I had gone down one size.

No Scuff Guards:-(

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: s

Ordered these for my daughter... They are beautifully made for low cost no frills pants. I can't speak to the DWR as they have never been used... and sadly are going back because there are not scuff guards to protect agains book rips... REALLY bummed as these are great pants otherwise.

Great Ski Pants for the Price

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Size Bought: Large

They run true to size. They are nicely insulated and not too bulky. I'm 5'8'' and wear a size 10 and the large fit perfectly.

like the belt loops

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I think sizing is almost accurate. I am a size 10 and at age 48 needed the Large for more comfort in seat and thighs with long underwear on. Haven't worn them yet but hope they won't slip down...waist is too big, but side velcro tabs pull it in decently and there are real belt loops if I feel a belt is needed to keep my rear completely covered when sitting.

These are my new go to ski pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I typically ski in 3L, non-insulated, ski pants and I switched to these this past season. The fit is great - flattering, length is perfect. And I love the extra warmth that comes from the insulation. Great pant!

Not great

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

Before I even put these on, I knew I wasn't going to keep them for just one small detail - the snaps at the waist are surrounded by velcro! This would mean that it would snag all of my fancy base layers when sitting or moving around and that drives me insane.

I put them on anyway, but they didn't even come close to fitting. I am usually a size 8 or 10, but in other Basin and Range pants, a M is too small so I ordered a large. Based on the size chart, I should have - Waist ~30, Hips ~42 - but these would have literally fallen almost straight to the floor they were so big.

I also find the cut to be pretty unflattering, unless you're looking for a very baggy, freestyle shape with no fit through the leg or knee.

The sizing for the 2016/2017 season is far more accurate. Also, a lot of ski pants have velcro around the snaps. It prevents the snaps from opening, when you are tucked tight and charging hard!

Wish there were other color options...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

These pants are great: warm, dry, fit well, good price. I just wish they came in other, more lively colors.

Really, Really Great!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I've been looking for some pants for skiing that look good and are comfortable, and these are it! The fit was not too big or small, with plenty of room to layer. I'm a women's size 10 /12 and I got these in Large and couldn't be more perfect. They look great too, and at the sale price are a steal.

Thanks Backcountry!

What's the inseam on these pants?

Hi Cat,

The inseam on the medium is 32 inches. The inseam-zips are at the ankles. They are not inner-thigh venting zips.
