beautiful sweater, but runs really large
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: XS
This is a beautiful sweater, but it runs large. I am typically a size 4 US, but the XS (UK 8, US 4 on the sweater label) was still too roomy. Unfortunately, it does not come in XXS (I even searched on-line at other sites and at the Barbour site). The sweater itself has a very interesting weave. The knit is soft, and does not seem scratchy, although I would probably wear a base layer or tee underneath. I also wonder whether it would be easy to snag, with the rather delicate nature of the weave. I was hoping for a fitted ski/apres ski sweater, but unfortunately the sizing didn't work for me. I tried the XS in navy and in cloud; the navy ran larger than the cloud. The dropped shoulders were the only stylistic detractor I found.
Warm, comfortable and not bulky
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: Large
Thus is a great sweatwe although the size chart is a little off. According to the size chart, I am an XL. In reality for a fitted look I should be in a M. Although I kept the L for a looser look that I can later under.
On a positive note this sweater provides a tremendous amount of warm without the bulkiness that comes with many wool sweaters. I wore it for a week through Switzerland and it not only kept me warm but it also maintained its shape perfectly. The style of the sweater is distinct but yet still maintains that classic appearance. It's a great example of the quality of product that Barbour is known for and well worth the price tag as it will last for a long time.
The net on this does have some small perforations. In the navy to me it does not read at all as see through. It's not clear to me if that would be the same for the white though. It also did not have any noticeable effect on the warmth of the sweater as I had feared when I first noticed it.
It's all in all not only a great looking sweater but also a very versatile and functional one. I can easily see it being one of my go-to pieces for anytime I travel.
