Low impact and easy, great trail breakfast and lightweight to boot.

make your friends super jelly

Of all the oatmeal pantry options this one is my fav. Made my co-campers jealous scarfing this AM treat.

Great, Can be Stretched into Two

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Took a couple of these on a recent camping and fishing trip with my Dad. We enjoyed them on the cold morning for sure and we even noticed that we could really share these between the two of us. We weren't full by any means but that's not really what we go for when out camping and fishing, just substance to hold us over.

Also we didnt use the peanuts, we just added them to a trail mix we had already. The peanuts they come with aren't that great so we tossed em.

Pretty good

Pretty filling, wasn't a big fan of just the peanuts as opposed to peanut butter in there but maybe I missed the memo.

      Trail fuel

When you are backpacking and hiking all day it is very, very important to make sure you provide your body with the proper fuel to keep your motor running in peak condition. The Backpackers Pantry Organic Peanut Butter and Raisin Oatmeal is a great choice for a backpacking breakfast, is very tasty and gets your body moving in the morning hours, and provides sustained energy for your adventures. I am definitely an oatmeal for breakfast guy, and have been inspired to throw in a handful of raisins and a few spoonfuls of peanut butter into my oats because of how tasty this is, definitely recommended

      Excellent Backpacking breakfast

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this for a recent backpacking/canoe trip that I was going on. It was very easy to prepare and tasted great. I especially like that you don't need another bowl to prepare this meal. Just heat up water to a boil and then add it to the pouch. It filled me up and gave me plenty of energy to finish my canoe trip (10+ miles). It comes with a pouch of peanuts that you are supposed to crush up a little and add into the mix. I think as an added treat you could bring some other dry ingredients and add it to the oatmeal such as dried cranberries, or chocolate chips.

My only complaint is that the pouch is tall so eating straight from the pouch can be messy. No matter how hard I tried I had to stick my hand inside to get the last of the oatmeal from the bottom of the pouch. This left my hands a bit sticky.
