Wolverine Cirque Hybrid Insulated Vest

The Women's Wolverine Cirque Hybrid Insulated Vest was created with input from Backcountry Gearheads because we—like all dedicated skiers—struggle with keeping warm without overheating while touring. Named after a cirque in our beloved Wasatch Range that features some of the steepest, tightest chutes, this vest boasts super breathable stretch panels at the back and underarm areas and 60 grams of synthetic insulation at the core. In our experience with prototypes, the design allows moisture vapor to escape as we boot back up the iconic Tips and Tails chute for another pre-work lap while conserving precious body heat as we transition for the descent at the gusty entry point.

The vest's weather-resistant fabric fends off moisture from flurries and blocks chilly winds, providing enough protection that we don't have to immediately reach for our shells when the day goes from bluebird to ominous. The large, fleece-lined hand pockets are glove-friendly and placed high to accommodate a harness or backpack waist belt, ensuring easy access to essentials like lip balm and energy bars.

  • Active mid-layer vest for versatile warmth
  • Mapped, breathable stretch panels prevent overheating
  • Stretch panels provide unhindered mobility on the uphill and down
  • Weather-resistant fabric repels snow and blocks wind
  • Large hand pockets are placed high for access under harness or backpack

great ski layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

I love this vest for backcountry skiing. It is a great mid-layer, warm but not too warm. It's form-fitting but just big enough to fit over a light puffy for those extra cold descents. Also great to throw on over a long sleeve or sweatshirt to run errands or whatever. Super soft and comfy!

A Favorite!

I love this vest! Warm for all of my winter?cool weather activities including running, walking the dog, and hiking. So comfortable!

    Backcountry Wolverine Cirque Insulated V

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this vest! It makes the perfect insulating layer or can be worn casually as a layering piece. The material is durable and comfortable. It runs a little smaller then I'd like.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small

This is my very first vest purchase and I'm 48. I never liked them because the collars, like turtle necks, give me a claustrophobic feeling. I've been doing much research on layering with breathable fabrics because I'm tired of getting drenched and cold with night sweats, yard work, and shoveling snow. This vest jumped off the page at me. I loved the slim, sleek design and the thought that went into both the design and materials sold me. I was a bit concerned about the collar, would it be stiff and annoy me, or would it lay flat and out of the way. To my relief it does both! The zipper guard is a bonus, nothing worse then having your mouth up against metal. I'm 5'2, 105 lbs,, flat chested, and I ordered a small. I've never ordered a small top in anything, prefer my clothes to be loose. I definitely could have gone with the extra small for a more form fit. I tried the small on with 3 layers, tank, thin long sleeve, and a light sweatshirt. I still had room for 2-3 more layers. If I had a bust it would help to fill in the gap. The vest is super light and would be an excellent layer piece or stand alone.

For wife's backcountry kit- loves it!

For wife's backcountry layering kit! Super happy

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
