I like this, just not for me

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

I’m 5’9, 140, 32dd. I wear a medium in sweaters usually and size 8 pants.
This piece is very well made, and I could tell it’s warm. In medium it is roomy on me. My problem is the location of shoulder seams. I prefer the seam to be up higher, this falls on the edge of my shoulders. It makes the front pull at a weird angle,
which I don’t find flattering.
I tried this in medium and maybe I should have tried a small, just to see if that would fix the seam issue. However, I was also having issues with ride up around my rear and I figured a smaller sizer would make that worse. I really liked the idea of this piece, it just didn’t work for me. The blue and black colors are very nice!

Expensive but worth it

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

I really didn't want to spend this much on a zip-up, but figured the reviews seemed worth it. As someone is is tall AND has a long torso - this is a lifesaver. I fricken love it. It keeps me warm on walks, and the pockets are PERFECTION. It's perfectly designed for a hike.

Pleasantly surprised by this jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XS

I have been looking for a new fleece jacket forever, and nothing has seemed right. This jacket isn't exactly what I was looking for (I wanted a more traditional fuzzy or grid fleece like the Patagonia R1 and R2 jackets used to be) but it was on major sale so I gave it a shot, and it's actually great. It has a smooth face and is thin, but surprisingly warm. The cut is very flattering (it even has bust darts) and the length (sleeves and body) is perfect, even though I'm small. Hood fits perfectly and stays up. The front pockets zip, and the sleeve pocket is a nice touch. The only thing I would change about it is to have raglan shoulders instead of the square shoulder, because I think the former is way more flattering on a woman's jacket on a wider range of body types, but I bought a black jacket and you can't see the seams anyway.

Patagonia used to be my go-to for outdoor gear. I love their philosophy and the R&D they put into their products but I am so tired of the women's styles being gimped versions of the men's styles (fewer pockets, no hood, etc.) for the same insane prices. They've also changed their sizing and fit, so fewer products work for me. I am pleasantly surprised by Backcountry's house brand and appreciate that (a) the women's items have the same functionality as the men's and (b) an XS is actually XS. I think they run true to size, which probably means most buyers will think they "run small."

Bought it in both black and pink

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The pink is much prettier than I expected, more of a mauve. Super soft and super warm but I don’t overheat. Awesome jacket.

Great fleece

Great fit, cute and very cozy without the bulk. Rapidly becoming my favorite to layer under a puffy or vest. Also really nice torso and sleeve length for us tall gals. Overall pleased with my purchase and got it on sale for stupid cheap. Win/win.

Favorite Fleece!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered the Timpanogos Tech Fleece Hoodie in a size small. I've now had it for a year, and it has become my favorite fleece. Prior to this, my favorite was an old Patagonia R1, but the Backcountry fleece surpasses the Patagonia one in every way...overall look/style, comfort, and durability. I love the feel of the inner fleece, and the smooth finish on the outside looks great. The zipped pockets are perfect. I ordered a size small. I'm including a photo showing the armpit to armpit measurement of the size small to help with sizing (18"). I typically wear a small, and occasionally an XS, and the small fit just how I wanted. Oh, and I have to say that I love the little Backcountry goat on the sleeve pocket!

With lovely stretch and a sleek look. You can’t go wrong!

Comfy and flattering

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: S

Comfy fleece, warm w/o being bulky, and w a flattering cut and some bum coverage, which is good to keep you warm. the s has slightly extra room, which will be handy in wintertime to put a layer under, very soft feeling in the inside.

I d say it runs tts.

Comfy and flattering

Fits nicely - fabric is very nice and they paid attention to details!

Defective Zipper- Disappointing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I looked long and hard for a jacket that met my personal specifications. This jacket was perfect to be used as a stand alone or for layering purposes. I found the sizing accurate and cut was nice. After less than a month of wear the zipper broke. That was a huge disappointment at this price point. Additionally, I don't feel I should have to pay for return shipping on a defective product I had less than a month.

I actually really like this jacket. It's very lightweight yet warm because of the fleece interior. The pocket on the sleeve is interesting. It's somewhat of a slim fit which I love because I am a slim person and it's hard to find jackets that aren't baggy around the waist. Another thing I like about it is that it's long. I have a very long torso yet the jacket doesn't feel short in any way. It'll be a great jacket for hiking this fall.

My Favorite Zip Up Fleece

This is one of my favorite zip-up jackets! Check out this video a good look at this awesome fleece!

What does this jacket weigh please?

How is the hood? Pull strings?

    My favorite zip up fleece

    • Size Bought: XS

    I love this fleece
I'm very petite and it is hard to find clothing that hugs my body rather than look loose. This sits perfectly above my butt and comes in around my waist. It also fits very comfortable on my shoulders. I love the thumbholes and the little side arm zipper features!

    A must have

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love this fleece! The cut and seams are placed nicely so it's very flattering on. The fabric has a good amount of stretch to it so it's easy to move around in and it's surprisingly breathable. I decided to wear this on a colder trail run to test it out and didn't have to take it off when my body temp rose. I've taken this camping down in Moab where the temps drop at night and it kept me warm and all the red dirt brushed off well in the morning. I've been using this for several months now for everything and it still looks great and I've had zero issues with zippers. I plan on taking this with me on JMT and on many other adventures to come!

    The Perfect Fleece!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I LOVE this thing. I've seriously worn it every day skiing since I bought it. It's the perfect layer I never knew I was missing! The fabric is high-quality & the cut is very flattering. I'm 5'9" 130lbs & I bought the medium - it fits great! I tried on the small which could have easily worked as well, but I wanted to be able to layer under for chillier days on the mountain. This piece is a must-have!

    I dig it!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

Have worn this a LOT since I got it. I find it perfect to and from skiing, and around town. If it every gets cold again I would consider wearing as a mid-layer under a light shell while skiing, too. It has good mobility, and the interior fleece texture is very soft and comfortable.

It is fitted, but has enough stretch to be comfortable, and the overall shape is flattering. I have a pear shape that is often hard to fit, and this has enough stretch to work without being awkward or uncomfortable.

    Dig it!

    The Perfect Hoodie

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I have a lot of hoodies, they all seem to work for one thing or another but the Backcountry West Slabs Tech Fleece Jacket is the hoodie to rival all other hoodies. I wear this thing literally all the time. It has some awesome features that seem to be lacking in other hoodies including nice deep zipper pockets, thumb holes, and the zipper zips all the way up to my chin. The inner fleece is super soft and warm, keeping me cozy for mountain adventures. The outside is smooth to the touch and so well constructed that is flatters my figure without being too form fitting.
The DWR finish makes in withstand wind, water droplets, and even the never ending amount of dog hair that my two dogs produce. I'm very happy with the West Slabs Tech Fleece and will be wearing for many days to come.

    The Perfect Hoodie

    Holy Grail!

OK - Let me start this review by letting you guys know (as I am sure you already do) I have a million fleece jackets, I am extremely picky with clothing and everything down the material and zippers need to be perfect for my long every day excursions in the backcountry. Not one of them compares to the West Slabs Fleece Jacket. If I could choose one "do it all" fleece this would be it. I never leave my house without this jacket and is easily a staple piece of mine.

I have worn this on long ski days, Shoveling snow off my car when it dumps here in the Wasatch, Climbing gym sessions, And to the office/city right after and it never even looks (or smells) phased what so ever! This thing is bulletproof while keeping warm and my temperature regulated. I also have dogs and the material is not clingy so the dog hair does not stick to it and wicks moisture away like a dream.

It is also very hard to find products that fit me how they should because of my body build (Athletic build 5'3 124lbs) - especially fleece jackets. They end up either being too tight to where I look like a child, or too baggy with too much extra material. I am impressed by how this jacket fits me it is extremely spot on. It's actually flattering! We gotta look cute no matter what and where AMIRIGHT?!

I have been living in the West Slabs Fleece for the past few months and will continue to do so, uhmmm, probably forever.

    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
