Why We Built The Thistle Down Jacket

Made for those days when our eyelashes freeze as soon as we step outside, our Thistle Down Jacket isn't shy when it comes to insulation. This lofty puffy packs in the lightweight warmth of goose down in generous doses, so we can enjoy everything from our daily commute to frosty morning belays, toasty and snug.

  • A casual down jacket for frigid winter days
  • Water-repellent finish sheds light dirt and moisture
  • Down insulation provides lightweight, toasty warmth
  • Durable hood brim keeps its shape and sheds precipitation
  • Generous microfleece chin guard won't irritate the face
  • Fitted cuffs and adjustable hem prevent loss of heat

Perfect for bouldering

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

I bought this jacket for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves it. It's super soft and comfy with room for layers underneath. Great as a puffy for New England winter bouldering.

High Quality Garment!!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I bought this jacket when it was on sale, but it has exceeded my expectations. I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but this jacket is a great value. I've only been wearing it for a week now, it feels great, fits great, looks great and keeps me very warm. I also appreciate the minimal branding. My only gripe if I had to have one is that the main zipper sometimes isn't so smooth when starting to zip it up. I have to hold both edges taut to get the zipper going. Other than that, great job Backcountry!

Winter cruiser

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Hi, this is James and I work on the Backcountry brand product development team. I am writing this review today to help guide your sizing decision on this new product.
This is a very warm yet surprisingly lightweight jacket for those cold days walking around town in the winter. The microfleece chin guard is awesome and feels great against you face while you have the jacket fully zipped. I also love that the waist has an adjustable draw cord to seal out the cold!
Fit is on point! The medium size is perfect for me at 6' 175#s.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Sleeve:
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Inseam:
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
