Great fit and don’t shrink up too much!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 33

For the last 8-10 years I have mostly worn skinny-fit pants so usually when I get anything that I want to be casual/loose fit it is super baggy and awkward. But these have a really nice stylish shape while still being totally comfortable to move around in. They are perfect for my job where I never know if I will be programming in the office or out in the shop working on machines. They have held up to all tasks so far, and the little leg pocket is a subtle way of telling people that there is more to you - that you are part of a small community where little leg pockets are rad. I got the olive drab color and then loved them too much to not get the black as well. These are the only pants I wear now (unless I have been too lazy to wash them).

Great fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 36

I ordered the black pair because I live and breath black clothing.

That said, I was initially hesitant around the zipper pocket on the leg but am a firm believer now. I don’t know how I managed before. There have been numerous occasions I’ve dropped a phone out of a pocket and putting it there gives me more peace of mind.

The fit was a bit unusual at first. As others mentioned, there is an initial tightness in the thigh area but after awhile it sort of forms to the leg and ends up feeling just fine.

Tested them during a full day of leaf blowing/collecting in the Pocono Mountains here in PA so can confidently say they help up to a long days work. Will be using these as my go to for active days.

Love these pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 35x32

I have bought both pairs that they sell and love them. I ordered the black pair and they sent the wrong size which I realized after I washed them. The backcountry rep I talked to was so understanding and said they will make it better. Next thing I know after I sent back the previous pair I got the right pair in the mail. Not only are the pants amazing, but the costumer service is also amazing. Back to the pants, they are true to size for me and super comfortable, could wear these all the time.

2 warranty claims

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32

These pants were great initially but ended up failing for me, twice. Once the back pocket ripped at the seam, the replacement pair thinned out and ripped in the crotch after 6 months.

Slim Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

So far so good. Very durable and super comfortable. They are a bit tight in the legs for me but have loosened up quite a bit in over the past few wears. I will say however, the slimness does not result in any restriction of movement. I think as spring progresses and the hiking in the mountains open up, I’ll be drawn to these pants for the comfort and the less likelihood they’ll be snagged on the scrub oak. I wear a 30/30 and I think the inseam is a 32. No biggie if you don’t mind rolling them up. I’ve grown accustomed to the look since most pants in a 30 waist that I own have a 32 inseam.

Slim Fit

Not drab at all!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 30

Initially I got these in the black color, but they were too big, and I have plenty of black pants.. I decided to roll the dice and try the olive drab color and I'm really happy I did. They look really nice in person and its not really a color you see all that often. That and the small stitching details make them unique.

Fit is true to size, they were pretty tight in the upper legs initially when I put them on the first time but after wearing them for a half hour or so they stretched perfectly and look awesome. I wash them cold and hang dry them and haven't had any issues with the fit since. They are only offered in a 32 inch inseam which is too long for me but I just cuff them and they look fine.

Easy to dress up or down and the stretch makes them great for active use, climbing, riding a bike, etc. super versatile! The extra zip pocket seemed weird at first but I actually really like it and I can fit my phone in it. Super happy with these, may end up getting the black pair in the right size as well because you can never have enough black pants.

Great everyday pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The Backcountry Shadow Lake pant has entered my regular rotation for lower-body apparel. The fit is on the slimmer side (which I like), but the stretch cotton makes them very comfortable to wear. I usually wear them casually (to work, around town), but they're stretchy enough to go to the climbing gym if needed.

My one critical comment is that the additional pocket doesn't do much for me personally, but it doesn’t really bother me either.

They appear to be quite durable. I've worn them regularly for the last few months and they have not shown any signs of wear.

Super nice stuff from BC

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 33REG

Just got a pair of these pants and they are fantastic! Super comfy and they look great too! I usually wear a 32, but had to go with a 33 on these. Great pants!

Sleek and comfortable.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32

I was a little weary that these would be a bit to restrictive, especially without having a gusseted crotch so the first thing I did was take them out climbing.

I have to say my initial impressions were way off, these things move naturally with your body, there is plenty of stretch when you want to be active, but they're soft to the touch and look great as a casual pair.

If i had to guess, i'd say the inseam is a standard 32" length
