Brown pow is calling.

Whether you're pedaling up thousands of vertical feet in the mountains or keeping it mellow with a post-work lap winding through the local forest preserve, the Backcountry Men's Full Suspension Short has you covered during trail adventures with its laid-back comfort and riding functionality. This classic pair of trail baggies emphasizes riding mobility with its articulated patterning, which means it's neither overly baggy like some gravity-inspired apparel nor skin-tight in fit like you'd find during an XC race.

We craft the Full Suspension Short from a double weave fabric that feels lightweight, dries quickly, and sits smoothly against your legs, as to prevent irritation on longer rides. This double weave fabric stretches in all directions for unencumbered mobility, regardless if you're pedaling over an imposing boulder or leaning into a fast berm on the descent.

To ensure a slip-free fit, we integrate a webbing waist adjuster and use an aluminum hook to secure the shorts firmly in place around your hips. Laser-perforated direct venting provides cooling duty, especially on those long climbs where you tend to overheat. Additional noteworthy details include a gusseted crotch for extra freedom of motion, a cargo pocket for handy storage of snacks and small tools, plus mesh-lined hand pockets that dry quickly, should you get these shorts soaking-wet on the trail.

From the mountain to the studio

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wore these for a yoga class and other than the slight bushing noise they make they were really nice! Comfortable and long enough so they didn't ride up when you get inverted. I'm 6' 180 lbs and wore a medium and they fit perfectly. With the adjustments on the side you can really tailor your fit.

simple, stylish, and functional

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great shorts for riding, and perfect comfort for around town. Nice vents in the crotch region to keep everything cool and dry. Fabric stretch is everything you need, doesn't feel like it bunch or binds at all. Fits true to size large for 34 waist. My only complaint is the retention straps on the hips use a drop in buckle that seams to undo if you don't pay attention to the buckles and push them back in if they are backing off.

Great mtb shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Solid short with a reasonable price tag. Nice materials, soft and stretchy. The only thing I don't like is the waist adjustment design. Webbing with metal hooks is limiting in a way I can adjust the waist. Velcro would work much better.

Nice stretchy shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These shorts are great for warm weather, they have a gusseted crotch with ventilation holes under there which is really nice. The waist adjustment works well and the pockets are well done. The only thing I'd change is to shorten the length an inch or so, they were a bit long for me but I wasn't using them on a bike. I think the length would be good for biking.

great short

these are top of the market in construction, design and materials, sweet

Solid Short

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The construction and materials are rock solid. They have a ton of pockets for wallet and storage. A big thing for me is the price is right and they are subtle enough to pair with any jersey you would like.

The cons for me is how long they are, the waist cinch straps are a little old school, and the button rear wallet pocket is less then ideal if you were to take a hard crash.

All in all they are worth it for the price.

Great Shorts Run A little Small

Awesome, they run true to size, but they do run a little smaller than the size chart claims. The Medium would barely extend up to 33" waist, definitely no 34.5". Also a customer told me the XXL could barely fit a 40" waist

    A tad long

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tend to like my shorts just above the knee - i don't wear knee pads-. These fall just below, however, seems like it'd be convenient if you did wear pads. Otherwise great short, nice and stretchy, seems like it would hold up to a fall and not rip.

Do these shorts have a liner?

These do not come with a liner so you can pair it with your favorite - whichever that might be.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Overall a great pair of shorts. Good lenth and are adjustable at the waist to help wear them where you prefer on your hips. The material is surprisingly light and feels just fine riding in the heat. Side button pockets don't get used much but I prefer to have empty pockets when I ride. The left leg zipper pocket is a nice size and placed reasonably well. The only time I notice having my phone in this pocket is when I'm really spinning quick.
Would recommend to anyone. No signs of wear with a hundred miles in these shorts. Not an around town style but I always have a second pair of shorts to change into. But you can definitely get away with wearing them to beers after.
    Another quality Backcountry branded item.

    Top Notch

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shorts have been my top pick this summer. Vented, adjustable, stretchy, and comfortable.

    new favorite shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are epic! I have ridden in a lot of different bike shorts and these are the best! They have a good amount of waist adjustment and are super light and durable. I have used them when riding chairlifts and on longer pedal rides. Size up if you are looking for more of a freeride fit.

    Awesome Short

These shorts are awesome. Great fit, durable, easy to clean, adjustable waist.

      My favorite bike shorts

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Backcountry nailed the design of these shorts. They have a comfortable fit, awesome range of movement, a bit of stretch, and a ventilated gusset to keep things cool down south. Plus they look good enough to wear at the pub after your ride.

      Favorite Shorts

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have ridden in these shorts a dozen times so far and they are my favorite out of all the shorts I currently own. These shorts are light, stretchy, breathable, and durable.

I am 6'3" and a 36 waist- so I got a size large and they fit great.

      Goatworthy Bike Shorts

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am 5'11" and about 175-180lbs. Typically wear a size medium or 32" short and got the medium here. They fit pretty well off the get go, but there are integrated belt loop attachments that allow for it to dial in the fit perfectly.

The material is fantastic. Stretchy and feels relatively durable for how lightweight it is, I was immediately impressed with them. After spending some time in them trail riding (in both dry & hot and rainy environments) they seem to dry very quickly and held up well. The stretch on them allows for great mobility and I am a huge fan of any shorts with a gusseted crotch. They breath great, I would imagine the laser venting does help on that too.

Pocket situation is decent - two open hand pockets and a zipped thigh pocket. I personally prefer a zipped hand pocket with another open one on the other side - if putting a phone or something essential (keys, etc) I don't like them hitting my lower/mid thigh when riding but still want them zipped up.

I personally prefer a slightly shorter inseam, but these fit nicely with knee pads underneath them! They are at the lower part of the knee cap when standing.

All in all, pretty great short, especially for the price! For reference, they feel similar to a Patagonia Dirt Craft short, but are half the price! I've been pretty impressed with them all around so far and will be a go to pair of bike shorts for me.

      Great Fit, Clean Look

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As someone who prefers a clean, black pair of bike shorts, these fit the bill. At 5'8" and 160 lbs with a 32 waist, the medium fit perfectly. The hook and loop waist adjustment is great for sizing the waist up/down slightly. The material is light, stretchy, and breathable (the laser cut holes in the crotch help with that as well). The length is perfect, as they fall just below the knee. The side zipper pocket is perfect for holding your phone. I prefer mine in the front pocket, however, the front pockets are a bit shallow to securely hold the phone, so I'd use the side pocket or your pack. All in all, a great short.

      Love Em!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These bike shorts look and fit great! They are a pretty standard length (around 13-14" inseam) sitting right below the knee. I have a 32" waist and the Medium fits perfect.

They have 4-way stretch making them extremely comfortable both on and off the bike. The inside of the pockets are mesh which feels great on the hand and breathes nicely. The double button closure ensures they stay secure on long rides. They have a gusseted crotch with small laser-perforated vent holes to keep moisture moving out (see picture). Other features include an adjustable waist and a small side zip pocket for keys, snacks, or a tool.

Look no further for some high quality bike shorts!

      Love Em!

      What is the inseam measurement?

      Hey James,

The inseam on these shorts is 13 inches!

Is there a sizing comparison chart?

      Hey William!

Size chart was just uploaded, you should see it now!
