Flattering but not perfect

OK, I really like these shorts. Something about the shape, wider at the bottom is actually pretty flattering. It also could be that there's only elastic along the back and the flat front also maybe helps. I like the black fabric / texture and gray detail. I have 2 beefs - first, it totally feels like there should be side pockets on these, to the point where I keep checking to make sure I'm not somehow missing them. Next, the liner is bright white. Seriously, can't you make it black so it disappears? But I'll keep them, flattering pair of lightweight shorts. I'm typically a size 4 and the small fit great.

I wanted to love

First off, Backcountry provided me with this product and this is my honest opinion. If you have any type of stomach, these shorts are a pass. As an Honorary Gearhead (how I've received the shorts), I really focus on being comfortable in new/unfamiliar outdoor spaces as well as helping increase narratives around inclusive sizing. This is one of those products that was great in idea, but poor in execution for the larger sizes. Initially I was really excited to wear them while running and use them as a reason to try trail running , but now sadly they'v become my "I've run out of clean clothes" shorts. Pros: - A handy lower back pocket for your keys while running. - The green/turquoise color is super cute and flattering. - The fabric is lightweight and feels like it's barely there when you're running - They don't ride up into your crotch when you're running. Cons - Too tight of a waistband. - Too much of a low rise fit. - The liner in these is horrible. Sure a liner is a nice feature but this actually looks like I'm wearing a front diaper and a is not even remotely flattering. Overall, these shorts make me too uncomfortable and aware of my body/ areas that make me insecure, thus overall detracting from my experience while using them outside. Truthfully, I used them once on a run, and then haven't used them again. I'd recommend the On the Go short over these any day.

Super light and functional!

I was super impressed when I got these shorts, they are probably the lightest running short I own. The super breezy material makes it great for hot summer hikes, running in town or on the trail, backpacking, even water sports. Even though they're incredible light, they still have great functionality with the adjustable drawstring and small zippered waist pocket. I do wish they had a little bit higher waistband since I prefer my shorts to be sit closer to my belly button. Regardless, they are very flattering and run true to size. I wear a small (I am 5'2 and 125lbs) in most tops and bottoms and these fit great, wouldn't want them any smaller or bigger. I can't wait to get out and use them more this summer!
