Why We Like The Hawx Ultra XTD 95 Tech Alpine Touring Boot

There days you don't have to choose between comfort and performance in the backcountry, and the Hawx Ultra XTD 95 Tech Alpine Touring Boots can attest to that. Their overall construction utilizes a thermo-moldable design and lightweight shell materials, which—combined with smooth action in walk mode—make the uphill slog feel a little less sluggish. They're built with a more forgiving flex that newcomers to the backcountry can appreciate, or could be just right for hard-chargers of smaller stature.

Wide Feet-Do not Be Afraid!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have used these a few times at the resort, so I cannot yet comment on touring aspects. I never would have considered these, as I have wide feet. I order my hiking/fitness shoes in wide. I came across one review where the person stated they worked well for their wide feet and high arches (my arches are SO high). I decided to give them a try, as the white pair were on sale. I am glad I did. I should note that I have smaller calves. I am 5' 4", 113 lbs...if that means anything. I suspect wider calf folks may have an issue with these. I am a size 7 in shoes/38 in mtb shoes. I ordered the 23.5. I should also note they come with a cool insert that can size them down a half size smaller! I love it. I don't suspect I will need them, but I always have them if they pack down a lot. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is they seem notably colder than my other boots. This is my first pair of touring boots, so perhaps that is normal. They are extremely light where as my other boots are quite heavy and padded. I was surprised how easily I could put them on, and I can so comfortably walk in them. I wanted to add a review, as that one other reviewer was the only reason I decided to try them.
