Turns should be earned.

Ditch the country club and get out to the backcountry where the crowds are scarce and the powder is plentiful with the Atomic Women's Backland Alpine Touring Boot. With a ridiculously huge cuff rotation, 74-degrees to be exact, the Backland lives for long tours, steep bootpacks, and pucker-inducing hikes up knife edge ridges to gain the summit. And when it comes time to tee off, the rigid and easy to engage Free/Lock 2.0 walk mode and Quick Click interchangeable tongue serves up a stiff and powerful feel that will inspire confidence when you lay into that first turn from the summit of your objective.

There's been a lot of buzz surrounding Atomic's Backland boots, and for good reason. The lightweight Grilamid shell can be heat-molded for a precise and comfortable fit, while the two aluminum buckles with a cross lace system work to lock the boot down for the descent. The liner of the Backland is designed specifically for backcountry touring and is completely waterproof and breathable. A perforated design helps excess heat and moisture escape, and the liner is heat-moldable, allowing for an even more customized fit.

One of the most eye-catching features about the Backland is the boot's external Free/Lock 2.0 walk mode. The external metal locking lever is easily engaged and remains rigid for a secure feel once locked into ski mode. The external design helps to eliminate icing that can make other internal systems freeze up during transitions, while the metal-on-metal interface ensures the mechanism doesn't wear out over time. The aggressive Skywalk rubber sole works in concert with the removable tongue to make hiking as comfortable as possible. The Backland is compatible with either a soft or hard tongue for skiers who prefer either a stiff or soft feel from their boots.
