Triple Power Structure provides three shock absorbing units in different densities at specific areas for long-lasting comfort. There's also an anatomic Lite 2 footbed that conforms to the shape of your foot overtime. Asolo blended a bit of polyurethane into Vibram's rubber sole for long-lasting durability.

Great backpacking boot

I used these boots for a 40 mile backpacking trip (the Teton crest trail) early October 2016. The weather conditions varied from heavy rain, sun and a couple of inches of snow. The boots offer great ankle support and good cushioning (with a 35 lb backpack) on both rocky and muddy terrain. They're waterproof but i recommend applying a layer of sparayable silicone (especially for overnight trips). A few complaints though: not so great performance on wet rock ( stiffer sole for backpacking trips) and the sole packs a lot of mud (can be annoying in time). Other than that, these boots are perfect.
I wear 11 in my other Asolos, NB and Asics and they fot perfectly
No need to break them in (my personal experience).
