The jacket you want when things get nasty.
When the wind is whipping past your tent and your breath is falling back on your face in tiny little icicles, you want to make sure that your warm garments are up to the task. You can rest easy knowing you have the Arc'terxy Women's Cerium SV Hooded Down Jacket. There are so many features in this jacket you'll come to love. The combination of synthetic insulation and down, placed in strategic zones, really allows the jacket to shine in any situation you choose. The DWR finish helps to shed light precipitation, though when it's cold enough that shouldn't be much of an issue anyway. If the weather does get wet, the trim fit means you can layer a weatherproof shell over this jacket. Use the zippered hand pockets to store some essentials like your map, compass, and of course, candy.

Got this for really cold days at altitude for an upcoming climb to Kilimanjaro. I have had the chance to test it multiple times in single digit to subzero temperatures in Chicago even before leaving and it is truly a warm jacket. It is very easy to stuff into the stuff sac, which is conveniently sewn into the interior pocket (great for people like me who *always* lose those!). I will say I normally wear a S due to my shoulders and bust being on the small side but I sized up to a M to make sure that the hips fit and am glad I did. If you are more 'pear' shaped like me, definitely use the hip measurement as your guide. There is not give there and honestly don't want it to ride up and let the cold air in. It has room to give them in the chest but this is fine as it leave plenty of room for layers at camp.
I will also say that wearing it on a 25*F day to walk 10 mi even with only one layer on underneath made me way too warm. So if you are looking for something for those really cold days - this is your jacket. If you are looking for something to do vigorous exercise around 20-30*, you should pick something lighter weight.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
I got this to replace my stepmom's old Patagonia Michelin Man puffy that was shedding worse than my dog. Although she hasn't been able to put it to the true test in dead winter, so far it's a winner! It's crazy how lightweight it is, but how much warmth it can pack in- definitely of the high quality expected from ArcTeryx. It does offer a flattering fit- she typically takes a Medium in tops and the M fits like a glove without being restricting. The drop-hem is nice too, definitely will help keep the cold winds from flying up the back of your shirt! All in all, initial impressions of size and quality are top notch- can't wait for her to take it out next winter and not shed feathers every which direction!
