A city-savvy winter parka.

Whether you work in Chicago, New York City, or Munich, you need a warm and sleek winter jacket that doesn't make you look like a brick wall or an overstuffed tire. The Arc'teryx Men's Therme Parka is a refined piece of urban outwear with the warmth-preserving intelligence you expect from a company known for extreme-weather gear. A combination of down and synthetic insulation work in harmony, keeping you warm without bulking you up, and the Gore-Tex and fully taped seams guarantee you won't arrive to work a rain-drenched, sweat-laden mess.

Coreloft insulation fills out areas commonly exposed to moisture: hood, hem, collar, upper sleeves and underarms. High-loft 750-fill European goose down cuddles your core and along your arms. Regardless of the conditions outside, inside the Therme you stay warm and dry. Fully taped seams eliminate micro openings for water to sneak in, while a DWR finish helps water bead up on the fabric surface. The tall collar and adjustable, insulated hood make it easy for you to limit skin exposure when wind chills dip below zero. No-lift underarm gussets mean you can reach up when you're on the subway and not share your latest adventures in man-scaping with the entire train. The hand pockets are insulated to protect your paws if you left your gloves at the office.

  • Dependable winter warmth for everyday life in the city
  • Waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex and fully taped seams
  • 750-fill European goose down insulation offers compressible warmth
  • Water-resistant Coreloft insulation in areas prone to moisture
  • No-lift underarm gussets keep torso in place when moving arms
  • Insulated hood with laminated brim protects from sleet and snow
  • Relaxed fit accommodates bulky midlayers and falls mid-thigh

Great gift

This is a good looking jacket. I got this as a gift and it seems to be a hit! The fabric looks pretty sturdy and it has a nice, casual style while still being able to handle some outdoor hikes.

    Arc'teryx Therme Parka

My issue is with a similar jacket that I purchased from Backcountry 3 seasons ago. The Arc'teryx model CA#34438. The front zipper (plastic) now does not secure and splits open. I'm astounded that a $700 high end jacket has such cheap crappy zippers.

    Wet neck, extremely big hood

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Small

I've just received the parka. As it was snowing outside I decided to try the jacket in action. It is nice and warm - the fabric protects from snow well. Armpits do the magic, it's comfortable to lift arms up, really nice to put my backpack on.
The real problems started when it turned windy. Because of its construction the collar (or the bottom part of the hood) worked as a scoop and let all the snow and wind in just to the neck. So the collar doesn't hug your neck nicely, it's on the opposite - it's so roomy as if you were wearing your sweater with a cone collar that spoons the snow. This is so disappointing. I see this construction elemen is typical for the firm's gear so as this has been my first time I get my hand on their product, now I'm hesitating as to should I proceed with the firm or not.
The way around the collar problem might be wearing a big scarf but it is, again, going to get wet quickly.
So overall up until the collar is 5 stars but the hood is a real deal breaker. If you, design guys, read this - you have to do smth about it.

    Collar and hood issues

Great looking and feels great when you put it on. The trouble, for me, was that I couldn’t get the collar in a comfortable configuration. The hood is huge. Not sure the intention behind that. Even in Chicago we don’t wear helmets walking around the city.

      thanks for the feedback Danny!

      Nice Coat

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

This is a great coat. It's plenty warm for Boston winters, and the Gore-Tex lining keeps me dry when we get mixed precipitation. My only complaint is that the sleeves are a bit long. This wouldn't be a problem if there was some sort of adjustment on them to tighten them around my wrist. Overall, though, I'm really happy with this coat.

      not very warm

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium

I was hoping this could be a stylish, warm jacket to use for Chicago winters. I tried it out on a day that was around 32F and felt chilly.

What is the center back length of a medium?

compared with arcteryx fission sl, which one is warmer?
      thank you.

YUHUI XU W. - For casual use, I would think the Therme would be warmer, as it's down insulated vs synthetic. But, if you're planning to do activities in it, I would get the Fission SL for it's cut, features and the Thermatek insulation will better maintain its warmth if it comes in contact with moisture. Hope this helps.

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
      Chest:
With arms relaxed at your sides, measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your bust/chest.
      Waist:
Measure around your waist at the narrowest part.
      Hip:
Standing with feet hip width apart, measure around your hips at the widest part.
      Inseam:
From standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.
      Sleeve:
With arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from center back neck, across shoulder to elbow and down to wrist.
      Crotch to Floor:
With bare feet, measure from your crotch down the inside leg to the floor.
*Actual inseam length will vary depending on what Arc'teryx deemed suitable for end use footwear.
