Arc'teryxPerimeter Short - Men's

The Arc'teryx Perimeter Shorts focus on helping your legs move freely and comfortably so you can push through a twenty-mile hike or spend the day working routes at your favorite climbing spot. Plus, the quick drying fabric means you won't spend the day feeling soaked if your cross-creek ford turns into a cross-creek swim.

  • Cresta fabric is a durable midweight material that is breathable, quick drying, and flexible
  • DWR treatment repels the initial hit of moisture to keep you dry in a light drizzle or when walking through dew-covered brush
  • Athletic fit is streamlined and trim so there isn't a bunch of extra fabric to get in your way
  • Gusseted crotch and an articulated design are built for movement so you won't feel held back by your shorts
  • Mesh-lined hand and rear pockets add storage space without adding much weight, and the thigh cargo pockets are great for holding snacks or your cell phone

Great hiking shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34”

I’ve taken these hiking in Zion and Yosemite and they’re great! I’ve done more strenuous hikes and they move just fine but are also plenty comfortable on easy hikes. They have quite a few pockets which is nice in case you take a lighter pack for a day hike. Highly recommend these! Unlike some outdoor brands, these run true to size. I need to wear a belt with these shorts. A 33” would have been a better fit for me.

They Just Fit Right

6'2 #175 32" waist 34" inseam
This is my 3rd par of Arc'teryx shorts, and they all fit perfectly. Not baggy or bunchy, and don't restrict movement. Wear them bouldering all the time and casually. Only buy them on sale though...

Quality that fits!

These shorts are of the usual excellent Arcteryx quality. And, they fit a lean person like me. I don't have take three steps before they move!

Great Shorts

Within 1 week of purchase these shorts have been worked very hard. A bouldering trip to NE Alabama followed by a three day camping/hiking trip on the AT in the Great Smoky mountains certainly put these shorts through their paces. The fit was superb and the material is very resistant to abrasions from sliding around on sandstone while climbing.

Great shorts but ran a little small!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 30

These shorts are awesome, love the material, color and style and was ready to rock them right away but they were a little snug in the waist compared to other same size shorts and a little snug in the thighs as well.

Other than than, these things seem awesome!

Durable, high build-quality shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 36" waist

Used for hiking in open terrain where ticks aren't a concern. The fabric has enough give for unencumbered freedom of movement. The zippered pocket is great for securing whatever you care to carry in it and knowing you're not going to lose anything scrambling over downed trees, boulders, etc. The fit is typical athletic Arc'teryx; the legs aren't "balloon-y" like some other shorts. The material is very breathable yet provides a measure of insulation from the environment. No worries of snags or tears; it seems to be pretty tough stuff. I have many pairs of Arc'teryx pants in different styles, but these are my only pair of Arc'teryx shorts - so I can't speak to how the fit compares with other Arc'teryx shorts. I wear a 36 waist size as I prefer a slightly loose fit, and it seems comparable to the Perimeter and Rampart pants that I have. I have the Argyris color, which in real life is a very close match to the color shown above - at least on my monitor, anyway.

What size should I try first? I take a size 34 in the Arc'teryx Rampart long shorts. I take a size 36 in the Arc'teryx Palisade shorts. I don't understand the sizing problems. Thanks.

Same question as above?

Buy both sizes, and send back the pair you don't prefer.
